This review is for the Sunday afternoon pool party that is at Drai's. I can start by saying that the only thing deserving of a star is the view. I didn't have to wait in line to get in (being a girl does come in handy), but there were groups of guys waiting to get in. The bouncer wasn't the friendliest. He was pretty rude to the guys. But he did say he worked the night before, so that can be understandable. What isn't understandable is Hollywood clubs creating a false image of a cool place with lines because once you get up to the place it's empty and the people who are there are douchebags and hobags. Typical guys at this place - 30's, deep v-neck shirt, hairy or there were the guys with tattoos wearing Rockstar caps, and last but definitely not the least douchey are the fake hipsters. Typical girls here - 30's, fake boobs, fake hair, fake lips and most of them were kinda chunky. The women who hang out poolside at the Roosevelt are much more attractive. DJ was mediocre at best. Mostly remixing top 40 pop crap music. The gogo dancers and waitresses will shake up bottles of really cheap champagne and spray the people around the pool. So cheesy. The food was nothing fantastic. I had an Asian Chicken Salad ($16). It was only ok. They put too much ginger on it. I was even less impressed with the automatic 22% gratuity that is added to the check. I saw my waitress 3 times and she seemed like she hated her job. The only time she seemed interested in my friends and I was when we were talking about bottle service. Boy, did her ears perk up at that. She didn't hear me the three times I ordered a Stella ($10), but she has bionic hearing when it comes to bottles. We didn't get it. The waitress, Anne, also tried to charge us for drinks we hadn't ordered. Automatic 22% huh? Other things that are gross about this place - the random people having sex in the pool (I guess the bouncers were too busy keeping people out to stop this). I've been to Drai's in Vegas and had much higher expectations of his place in Hollywood. All in all, it could be a fun place if it wasn't overrun by douchebags and hos.

I had fun at this place because I enjoy dancing and the nightlife scene in general. However, this place in particular was not my favorite. It was insanely crowded despite the place being huge. They had people stand outside in line for longer than was necessary. A lot of the flooring is uneven and it's really easy to trip. There is a techno room, but I spent most of my time in the other room which had some good music, but the DJ wasn't very good. Cut songs off way too early and played a lot of the same songs repeatedly. It is at least possible to head upstairs and outside if you want to get a breather, although maybe getting a breather outside would not be what you want if you don't want to smell weed all night. Be warned that there's a $20 cover charge that's almost impossible to get out of since they don't seem to let anyone in before 11:00 which is when the cover charge begins.

I'd come back for the space and drinks. I had dinner at The Park, and though portions were worth what you're paying for, I rather spend dinner elsewhere. The service at The Park was good and there's a variety of options to choose from for dinner. I think this is your ideal dinner date place, given that you're surrounded by beautiful decor and romantic lighting. It gets obnoxious as it gets later into the night, when there are crowds of people coming in. It's def. worth coming in the summer, it's gorgeous and a great place to hang out with large groups of friends.
