First things first: "DJ," you're not fooling anyone by standing there and waving your arms. Get your Ed Hardy ass down out of the booth because you're just hitting "play" on a mix you downloaded the night before. There was once a time when Medjool was a pretty decent spot to get a few drinks and people watch. Sure, most of the crowd looked a little out of place for this spot being in the Mission, but the mix of douchebags and stuck up Marina-looking chicks amidst the regular folks there who just needed a break from being elbow-deep in hipsters in every Mission dive from 17th to 24th was tolerable. On a warm night (or even chilly, as it was this previous time) sitting under the heat lamps on the rooftop is pretty great - especially when your group is the center of the party. But as I left at around 11 and made my way towards and down the elevator and finally out the front door, I noticed that the once tolerable crowd had turned into bridge and tunnel. No joke. It's as if the rejects from every SoMa spot got lost and congregated in the Mission. No thank you. If i wanted that, I'd go back to my 21 year old self and hit up one of *those* parties. I go to the Mission to escape that bullshit. Also, the doormen are dicks and the drinks are expensive (but all of the bartenders are awesome, for sure, especially the ones on the 2nd level and the redhead on the rooftop - they're friendly, attentive, and pour pretty damned well).

Don't sit on anything here! I live nearby and was walking past a few weeks ago to see dumpsters filled with banquets, couches, whatever else furniture. A man on the street stopped to check out the furniture, since it looked to be in pretty good condition. A contractor came over to WARN the guy and said that he probably shouldn't take the stuff - the vomit, urine, and other bodily fluid combos made it unsafe to take into your home. EWWWWWWWW. Lesson: Don't sit on ANYTHING there. If it's dangerous to take into your home, why would you want your person to touch it. bleh bleh bleh. Even writing this makes me want a shower.

Interesting hotel, lots of history, mandatory valet parking. The walls are paper thin, I could hear the person next door talking on their cell phone at all hours of the night. I don't have these sorts of issues when I go to a Marriott. Front desk tried to jip me out of my corporate discount, but I luckily caught the mishap before I signed the paper. Close proximity to Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater, Star Walk, and several restaurants. The rooms are modern, bathroom is small but has a trendy feel to it. Fitness center is located near the pool, you have to walk outside through a jungle of palm trees and fire pits. 25 Degrees, their hamburger restaurant food is great, but service is not so great. Very dark inside, would be fun to hang out with a group at.
