The best night to go is Friday because of Miles Mosley. (Although I also like the piano player who is usually there on Saturday.) He's group is a great listen although I'd recommend not sitting directly in front of them because then it's pretty much impossible to talk to anyone you're with. The outdoor area is smallish but big enough for four to six people if you are able to grab a table. The bar area is nice as well. It seems like the place is starting to class up a bit, with the ladies getting a bit gussied up but no worries, there's no dress code and you can still schlub it up without feeling out of place.

The Cafe was always a cool place to dance, drink and mingle. Since the new reno completed some months back it's a vision in silver with most of the place done in stainless steel. Now sporting a nice VIP area in the back, it was open to everyone my last few times there. The bartenders are cool- they remember a good tipper and are not afraid to pour a decent cocktail. The place has everything a club should have- multi-level set up, nice smoking balcony, pool table and mixed crowd who like to have a good time. There are practically no seats at all, but this only makes you want to keep dancing which is OK by me. A tip of the hat to whoever renovated this place. Great job!

It's hard to believe that Bowery Presents manages this venue, given the greatness they've achieved at the Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge, two of the best venues I've experienced in the city. I've experienced one good and one great concert here, however, the overall impression that the venue only wants more of its share of my well earned income leaves an asterisk on my impression of this place. $7 Heinekens anyone? How about a $6 Bud? Anyways, I really believe that if you're dead set on seeing anyone, you'll be dead set on having a good time, other than the drink prices, Webster Hall can give you a great experience. The sound system will pass (Bowery and Mercury stack up, to me, as the best in the city) though it may turn you off of discovering a great new act: some bands come off as muffled and incomprehensible, though that may be their own fault, though I believe that a venue should try its hardest to give your ears a treat. And if you're on the floor and everyone is dancing, you'll absolutely love that the floor shakes and invites you to join in! Just don't expect to get drunk on their $7 beers.
