I attended a Macallan scotch tasting event here and the location was pretty nice although the converted old time theater into a night club left some weird looking stuff going on. I have never been to it for a the nightclub/danceclub aspect so I'm not sure how well that works out.

Girls just wanna dance. The highlands was alright, I've definitely experienced better. My girls and I were on some guest list, but upon arriving there, the chick who was checking everybody didn't even know who our promoter was. It was very fucked up and confusing for a moment. If you get there after 10pm, the line gets really long. Once you step inside, there are only about two people in there, so that long ass line outside is just for show, plus at the beginning of the evening you realize that it's a vagina fest. And what happened to clubs in LA anyway? Where are all the adults? Everybody inside looked like they were 15 years old. The dance area in the main room is cool. It had lots of space, lots of people, which means extreme amounts of time and opportunity to get hit on. Make your way to the outside smoking section to take a break from rejecting the boys to enjoy the wonderful view of Hollywood and the insane traffic that is Highland Blvd. Upstairs there are more loungy rooms with a view of Hollywood, but we somehow ended up crashing someone's birthday party up there. The music up there was decent. A mix of hip hop and radio music. By 12:30, I was bored. I guess I'm over the Hollywood club scene. LA can do better than this.

AMAZING food. I had the salmon and it was to DIE for...such a delicious melange of flavors I would never have expected. The sangria, too, was yummy. The decor is gorgeous, and the flamenco band and dancer definitely added to an already exotic atmosphere. The one complaint I have is that it always seems to be overcrowded and the layout of the place is not conducive to efficient seating. There are too few tables for a lot of hungry guests, so I had to wait an hour for a table. You should definitely go and expect a phenomenal meal, but be prepared for a long wait.
