by Mindy L. on This place insn't bad if it's a good weather. They open the rooftop for the dance floor. Music is not bad. I felt this place was better back then than now. The last time I was there, it must of been preppy asian night or something because it was just mad horny a-z-n kids with their back- sweating polo collar shirts bumping and grinding on everyyy singlee girll!!!! gross, VOM* so I peace'd out asap and went to ONE in meatpacking.

The first time, a guy started drumming while the DJ was doing whatever, and it turned into this battle between DJ vs Drummer, new vs old, man vs machine. I'm making it sound more dramatic than it was, but it WAS cool, and the place is so small that everyone was right there in it - the place had amazing energy. Whenever I walk by Little Baobab, it always looks and sounds like it's bursting at the seams with happy people and island music. The house cocktails were delicious, with flavors like tamarind, ginger, and hibiscus mixed together; tasting tropical, not girly. It's always crowded on the weekends. Like, "who the hell's sweat-soaked back just rubbed my face" sweaty. The crowd that gathers there is mixed, with just about the same mix every time, so have an open mind and go with it. Girls, you will get hit on by foreign men, period. It usually takes me a couple drinks before I'm ready to charge in there and really enjoy myself, but when I do, it's like going on vacation to someplace else.
by Nessie V. on This place is dead to me. When you have an all-you-can-eat veg special, how many caveats can that come with before it is not all that I can eat? I could sure eat some more mushrooms. that would be very nice. Oh wait, that's the one thing I can not eat all that I can? Even the grammar doesn't make sense there. I mean, your food is not bad, but it's so not teh bomb that you have to put a velvet rope around it. Plus the service is pretty dodgy. They can't decide if they're a bar or a restaurant. The bartender often is the server and i don't think that set up will ever work. So really, no reason to go here. Even though they're right down the street.
