A local person from Atlanta (an Atlantan?) told me that you go to the Varsity for the experience, not for the food. That is certainly true. I had a chili dog, a chili burger, onion rings, and a frosted orange. The onion rings were teh highlight of the meal -- it was a huge portion, adequately battered and fried, and extremely delicious. The frosted orange was also good - tasted like a creamsicle. The burger and hot dog, on the other hand, had a lot to be desired. They were extremely greasy and reminded me of food that I could get from a school cafeteria. Of course, I do enjoy my share of greasy food, but that's usually reserved for a late night food run. I went to the Varsity for dinner, and it really didn't feel like an appropriate meal to me. So, you should certainly stop by the Varsity whenever you're in Atlanta -- just be sure it's after a long night of reveling.

5 STARS for Project Ethos. Music / Art / Fashion +1 for the groovaholix dance group if it were a club scene, i'd give it 2 stars. this place has real potential. but the crowd and management aren't great OK RONNIE; being more descriptive...  :oP this place has a lot of potential because of the huge venue, the nooks and crannies of all the various rooms. i came here once when i was 18, and ever since then, only to come here for special events. i.e. guest DJ's, ProjectEthos, AfterHours, etc etc. if ya come here on any occasion, the crowd seems young. and tigerheat...sounds like a gay club? merging from a WeHo location. just a heads up. will this suffice ronnie?

If you go two doors down from MJQ to the Local on a Wednesday night, you'll hear the same question repeated over and over, like a refrain, "Are you going next door? Are you going to MJQ?" For a long while now MJQ has been Atlanta hipsters' second home, particularly on Wednesday nights when they do 'britpop night,' though they don't exclusively play britpop anymore because britpop isn't quite as in now as it used to be. The main bar room itself is cool looking, if small---a huge bar in the center with cushioned seats and a large dancefloor. It's usually so dark in here that people can makeout without being seen. And they do. Indie meat market? Exactly. Wear your cool pants. One time I got grabbed here by a stocky woman with a lazy eye who made me dance with her to Prince. It was awkward. There are a lot of awkward lurkers here. It is a lurkers haven. The smaller room sometimes gets busy but is less frenzied than the main. MJQ can be fun when it isn't too crowded, though it seems to be getting worse and worse. The last time I went it was so packed I couldn't move and the air was like sweat. Better atmosphere than Buckhead bars, and supposedly cooler kids, but you know, is indie Buckhead any better than real Buckhead? At least those frat guys don't pretend to gots brains. Nonregulars here usually have a hard time finding the place because there aren't any signs. I've been asked by carloads of kids where MJQ is many times. I like to give them wrong directions. That's funny. But just between me and you: it's across from the Murder Kroger on Ponce. Head toward the garage door that leads into the ground. The concourse. How brilliant.
