about a week ago we had a late christmas party at the velvet Margarita.. First impression: wow! crazy design! so blue and velvety!! so many sombreros!!! Second thought: pretty regular menu, kind of weak drinks! More observations: why is this waitress mean to our dishwasher Timo? yes, he doesn't speak good English, but he is also a customer!!! stop rolling your eyes, Ms. Waitress!!!!! FINAL VERDICT: you need to improve a lot, mainly focusing on not discriminating against a Mexican boy at the Mexican cantina!!!!!!!!!

It's nice that they have a ton of tables in different settings, but they should really hire more waitstaff. Must have waited 30 minutes to even get a drink menu. Also, the DJ upstairs changes songs too quickly. And he cut off Don't Stop Believing before the chorus, which is absolutely evil. Bitching aside, I like this place. Not paying cover is cool, the interior is visually appealing, it's spacious, good looking crowd, not too pretentious, and the DJ plays decent music (Bonus points for Bell Biv Devoe and Lumidee, large minus for the aforementioned Journey-ending). Some constructive criticism for the owners of Park if they read their own rateclubs reviews: * Hire more servers. If you need to, start charging a small cover. I'd be wiling to pay $5 if I get a drink at a table in under an hour. * Get better speakers for the upstairs. That shit's got no bass at all. * Tell the bartenders not to card. It's a waste of time if you already card at the door. * Tell the DJ to let the songs ride out before switching. And don't cut off Journey. Srriously.

On a sunny day, this would be a great place for a weekend brunch or even lunch. There's outdoor seating with views of San Francisco's waterfront. I had the Hawaiian sweet bread French toast soaked in a cinnamon vanilla batter with a macadamia and brown sugar crust with caramelized bananas and some strawberries. It was yummy, not too sweet just right. Service was fantastic.
