A super friendly bar with good beer, $14 pitcher, bunch of bar stools and plenty of tables, free peanuts in a huge red Lego bucket, bunch of TVs to keep you busy and friendly people, this bar definitely has a lot of potential, albeit they only serve beer. I almost don't want to write this review, because I like it the way it is, it's not too crowded, it's clean, everything works, oh did I mention this is a clean bar? T Boyle is hidden away literally behind the Ice House comedy club, it took us a while to realize its exact location, and I got a parking ticket, the parking around the area is confusing at night, so make sure you read ALL the signs posted.

Had a great time dancing the night away on a Saturday night! Music was okay but the atmosphere was so pretty. I didn't have to wait in line -just talked with the doorgirl and got in with 10 dollar tickets. Loved the look of the club. It felt like I was transported back into ancient Japan or something. Some douche was smoking on the dancefloor but the bouncer made him stop pretty quickly.

So it's time for me to stop being lazy and just write my review for Tao. The first time I went there, was for my birthday. I made the reservation exactly a month in advance, but since 1/2 my party showed up late, we still had to wait for about an hour. The food was good. GOOD...not great. The service was a bit spotty. Anthony Michael Hall was at the next table with 2 cougar-esque strippers, being very loud and rude to everyone around them. You may have gathered that experience wasn't the best. This week, I've been to Tao TWICE. I don't know how I managed/agreed/decided to do this. The first time was just for a quick drink; I work a block and a half away and my co-worker and I stopped in around 6:10pm on a Wednesday evening. You wouldn't have been able to tell that it wasn't 9pm on Saturday night. Just as loud and crowded. We grabbed 2 martinis ($15 each), shuffled to the middle of the lounge area, drank and left. Last night, my friends and I were hungry and wandering the streets of the Upper East Side. I jokingly said "let's go to Tao!" (they'd never been there). They told me we'd never be able to get in...Friday night, 10:30pm. Accepting the challenge, I walked in, marched up to the host stand and said "Can we get a table for 3 within the next 10 minutes please?" - somehow it worked. I'm not going to elaborate on food. It's typical Pan-Asian stuff and everyone knows it. We also all know the prices are super high for the "atmosphere" and the name. I WILL point out that our entrees took waaaaaaay too long to come out. I'm talking 30 minutes after the appetizers. I was almost falling asleep at the table at this point. Then, they forgot my veggie side-dish once everything else had come out. An-noy-ing. Silver lining: Manager DID offer us free dessert because they knew how bad they screwed up. Highlight of the meal? CHOCOLATE MOLTEN CAKE WITH COCONUT ICE CREAM. OMGOMGOMG. Still, this is such a 3 star place.
