Most music venues are determined by the band playing that night. I seriously think that this venue made an otherwise ho-hum show good. This was my first visit and i loved the ambience. Shared/open bathrooms were fun. my limited interaction with staff was good, not as crazy as some of these other people have claimed. (i wasn't even searched or frisked). The one bummer was the TIME! The show was an "early show" at 6:30pm. Consequently, I planned my entire weekend trip to NYC around a 6:30pm show, trying to squeeze in museums, dinner, drinks and friends around it. Come 6:30 (after leaving the MoMa early, spending extra cash on a cab instead of subway just to make it ontime), my friend in line calls to inform me that the main act didn't start till 9:00 and there were no in-and-outs. Meaning, she suffered in line for one hour, inside for 2 and we went down to St. Mark's to enjoy ramen, beer & chicken wings at Mankui Tei. The evening turned out great for us... but i can't say the same for our friends who were "trapped" inside. i'm not an audiophile, so i can't tell you about sound. but i could hear the band and it wasn't awful. The old decor was gorgeous and i couldn't get enough of my surroundings.

Buddha Bar is definitely a trendy NY hot spot and perfect for meat packing district. I thought the atmosphere was nice, and somewhat loungy. They had delicious, unique cocktails. The calamari was good. Our table had a really great time, a girl friend of mine had gotten the prawn, another got sushi and a couple of them got the sea bass, and we also got 2 dessert to split for the table. Let's just say, we finished everything without feeling like we were completely full, it was just right before having a night out on the town.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Went there awhile ago to see Angie Stone (yeah, I know this review is LONG overdue). Loved the crowd, the dj played some new edition and vanity 6 (i was sooo excited!) Drinks were so-so. Had a tokyo iced tea (my fav. I KNOW when its not made the right way) wasn't that great. im usually "feeling it" after two but at this place two had me only tipsy. Nice bathrooms. Good place for concerts. Cool people, some "thirsty" guys trying to holla that weren't attractive. Overall, highly recommended.
