This place is probably the most trendy one I've been so far! The music just gets you going. The place is beautifully decorated. It's a very lively place and loud which I like, it encourages to sit closer to your better half/potential honey and talk into their ear ;) oh yeah besides getting it on, the food is great!

I'm a sucker for clubs that just have a big rig in a dark room with little fuss. I don't know if I'd go to The this club to meet people and mingle, but for faceblasting beats from your favorite electronic talent, it takes some beating. In the last nine months we've seen Modeselektor, Evil Nine, Flying Lotus, The Bug, Kode 9 and others here and they all kicked massive amounts of ass. There's loud, heavy sound, and it's easy to reach the front of the stage around the side without smearing yourself against sweaty ravers. You've got two bars in the main room so you won't have to miss a single bassline while you load up on liquor. And while there's screens, lights etc it feels very unflashy and a little bit underground. Never even really make it into the second room (and I'm not even sure if there is a third). The only time we went back there people were breakdancing and some dude gave us a flashing black box with a blinking red light. It's like a secret camera bomb or something. It's staring at me right now, monitoring my every move with its silent red stare.

I haven't been to Suite 181 for YEARS! But finally made it back to this place for some after party dancing. We got there well after 2am so the clubbers commute and B&T crowd were long gone. Luckily no line but the bouncer tried to enforce the dress code - no sneakers. Who cares! It's freakin 2 am! At any rate, after much negotiation he finally let us in. Up the stairs we went and I was very surprised they were still charging a $20 cover for late night. Upstairs is usually great music but I always loved being downstairs. The downstairs scene was pretty addicting. The hip-hop music was bumpin and we danced the night away. Now if only we didnt have this silly last call at 1:30am biznass. If you're looking for some late night dancing with great hip-hop music, definitely check out Suite 181. The only disappointment was the late night korean restaurant next door is no longer there. Guess I really haven't been to this club in a while....

I'm on the fence with this place...as a bar it's already a favorite watering hole of mine...having just moved back to the Bay, after an 11 year bid in NYC, I was shocked to find a bar that serves one of the best beers on the planet, Ethiopia's own Harar beer that comes complete with hints of nuts & honey, mildly reminiscent of Tej(Ethiopian honey wine) but crafted for the beer guzzler...just a great beer...so, for sure, order one if you go. They also hold one of the best jukeboxes I've found, yet, in the city. The staff is always super nice and aside from the Harar they have a full bar...and I mean FULL bar with plenty of taps and plenty of vino. On the other side I TRUELY hope that this is not the best Ethi in the city & highly doubt that it is, although alot of people on here are saying that. I've eaten everything from home-cooked ethiopian food flown to NY from the kitchens of Ethiopian grandmothers to just more traditionally prepared dishes at restaurants in NYC and Washington DC(Little Addis) this is by far some of the most lack-luster ethi food I've ever had. It lacks the most important thing on an ethi plate...quality injera. Their injera is just so watered down in flavor that I thought I might actually be eating my Doro Wat(what they only refer to as chicken stew) with a crepe instead of that spongy-sourness that I'm so used to tearing off...hah! People are right about the price and the portion...Great & Hefty respectively...but that really means nothing to me. There's no burn, I'm also used to more heat, more spice, more pepper. As an African, I feel as though I haven't eaten properly unless I've had my pepper and the Ethi culinary tradition is no different. They are also lacking two of the most traditional dishes that are normally found on any Ethi menu, Tibs & Kitfo. In Ghana we would call this place a chop house. Just meant for socializing and quick dining to fill the belly...but nothing more. If you're looking for great Ethi look elsewhere. If you do decide to eat here, bring your own hot sauce or Chiles!...and your own injera for that matter!
