I love this bar. Great balance of decor twn wood and metal - christmas trees hanging sideways from the ceiling, dogs with light bulb teats, or 12 feet of copper pipe for the bathroom faucets - which by the way are, like most bathrooms in Brooklyn, the kind that understand when ya gotta go, ya gotta go - none of this men's/women's delineation. Booths are just right, DJ on Friday nights just plays all the gay-enough dance songs, the building, built in 1837 as a bank, has seen many iterations before the current bar, is awesome. There's just a certain level of I-get-it at this bar that all bars should aspire to. Great food, great beer selection, great service.

Medjool looks like someone's having an upscale party in their apartment.. I give medjool 3 stars because: 1. the guy to girl ratio was terrible. 10:1? -1 star. good thing we we're too wasted to care. 2. Not too much space, the bars were super crowded and it was impossible to get drinks. after all, aren't we here to drink? - 1 star. 3. bottle service, kettle one, the mixers kept flowing all night. staff kept the area neat all night +1 star. 4. DJ was alright. hip-hop mash-ups, top 40, mainstream R&B. i'm being generous here, but +1 star. 5. we found parking within 5 minutes even though it wasn't close, liquor stores all around the spot so we grabbed some beers after medjool closed, but most importantly.. BACON WRAPPED HOT-DOG VENDORS ALL OVER THE PLACE. after a LONG night of drinking, nothing tastes better than a bacon wrapped hot-dog on a cold night in the city. done
