I must preface this review with a shout out to Ruggy J. who conveniently coined the term, "Martunied" I blame my non-phenomenal experience here on myself. I got going waaay to late on a Saturday... didn't get into a cab until after 10, and having read the reviews of Martuni's I wanted to get there early, fail. We were packed in like sardines, and trying to get to the bar was seeming impossible. Then as if magic, Bartender Glen noticed us and motioned us over to the server area. The bartenders are saving grace here let me tell you!! I ordered a sidecar per a friends recommendation.. delish! After getting drinks we squeezed back into the crowd, completely unable to see that there is a piano in this place. Sadly enough I did not get to experience the amazing sing along party back there. However, the Martuni Gods didn't want my experience to be bad, and in front of our eyes, 2 seats opened up at the bar. Bartender Glen kept an eye on us, filing our drinks and making sure men weren't giving us trouble. Being a poor graduate student, i went with a basic vodka martini with a twist for drink 2. 5 bucks.. for what, 3 shots, basically... yes, I was "martunied." The crowd is a great mix of people, I had a wonderful conversation about accents with my bar buddy Jesse. I definitely plan on coming back here, and definitely before 9. Look forward to the review update :)

Disclosure: I hate clubs and most of those who frequent them. Call me judgey pants all you want - but I am a total hater. The music, the scene, the price.... UGH. The Park had the bad music down. The scene wasn't nearly as bad as most clubs, especially in the immediate area. The crowd was slightly more casual than those at the neighboring clubs as well, though there was still a serious faction of girls wearing what I must assume were shirts and not actually dresses. If I can see your birth canal when you bend over, it's definitely too short. Here's the deal with The Park. Expensive drinks (which I have to admit were at least strong as hell) and average food. Terrible service in the restaurant area. Mixed crowd as far as age/style for both the restaurant diners and the late nighters. No cover, though. The selling point of this place was the lounge area, which is dotted with large trees, a high glass/open ceiling, stone benches and cute outdoorsy furniture. Though you can't smoke there, despite the fact that you are TECHNICALLY outside. That was my favorite spot by far. The indoor areas were about 1000 degrees and the upstairs was packed and loooooud. I believe it's uncovered in decent weather, though with this summer, who remembers what that's like? Like I said, total hater. I did really enjoy sitting underneath the trees with some distance between me and the grinding/making out faction. Did I enjoy it enough to go back? No. Neither the restaurant nor the late night faction was all that impressive. Skippable fo' sheez.

I've only been to Cat Club on their Thursday 80's night so I'll just speak to that. If it's your first time to Cat Club, you need to come here with an open mind. I love Cat Club because people that come here are so friendly. They're down to earth and there're here to have fun. As a girl, I feel safer here than at any other clubs in the city. Guys do get hints when they grind on you and you inch away. In fact, they may approach you just to have a conversation and nothing more. There is no need to dress up to go to Cat Club. A tshirt, a pair of jeans, and your beat-up converse will do, girls and guys alike. I like their playlist too but it seems to be the same sequence every single time. Their cocktails stink. Don't try. Just do staight ups or beer. OOOOOOooo and there's this hot dog cart right outside. It's soooo yummy and it smells soooo good.. you should try that too before you go home for the night.
