Formerly Tokio Lounge which I thought was a hole in the wall, well after it became Ecco, the hole got much smaller and darker. Normally when club promoters opens a club they will stop promoting. Well the owner of this venues did not, in fact he spends more time promoting other venues than he does promoting this spot... I've never liked any of the promotion team and there has been alot. The owner changes promotion team so frequent its impossible to keep up. The spot fell from grace super fast. I went there several times and never liked the venue. I think developed claustrophobia because of this spot even though I normally like small venues. Its a small venue designed like a big venue.... nothing about it says super club or intimate and exclusive, its almost like being stuck in the middle of no where. Its one of the places I would avoid. New clubs opens in Hollywood all the time. It was me and my friend's first time here at Temple and I have to say, it is a spot I would definitely come back to and recommend to everyone. The interior was beautifully decorated with a theme of Buddhism and a mixture of a classy Vegas style decors. The venue was gorgeously light with all types of colors; which brings out the mood of relaxation and peaceful at the same time. I can guarantee it would be every photographer's favorite spot to shoot. The staff, security, door girl, bartenders, were very friendly and helpful. They actually smile! I guess you can say their approachable if you need help with anything. The music were perfect for my taste. I love all sorts of House music and this venue plays just that! Although it wasn't crazy packed on a Friday night, but it was very much enjoyable. I came here by invitation through a friend that was invited by a few DJs that was spinning that night. At the same time, I took advantage of this opportunity to network a little ( http://www.iloveclubin...). I researched the spot for the type of crowd, venue space, rooms, colors, and what people wear at the venue's main website ( http://www.templesf.com). I ended up building up anticipation for myself. The videos on the website made the spot very attractive. Through the videos, I took notice a DJ and a pianist in majority of the videos. I assume that they were probably residents. To my surprise, they were the owner and music director of Temple Nightclub. I didn't know that, until I ran into them and introduced myself to them. Jay was the first person I recognized and I (thanks to alcohol encouragement) walked up to him, "You're in the video on the website!" and introduced myself as Cat, a photographer for a bay area based nightlife photography company called iLoveClubin. I told him that it was my first time there. Immediately, he volunteer to give me a tour about Temple. His kindness, generousity and vibe was so nice to be around! Very much a sweetheart. I hope to see him in action on the piano soon. Then it was Paul. I don't recall talking to him much (due to consuming large amount of alcohol) but I do remember introducing myself the same way I did with Jay. Although he didn't give me a tour of the spot, but his humbleness of being recognized and just patient with someone who clearly had a lot of alcohol prior to the introduction, I say he's a "thumbs up" in my book. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed this spot greatly and is looking forward to returning. C=

Apparently Sunday nights are THE night, and word is the door is a tough one. We strolled right in, as is usually the case, and all i can say is, SENSORY OVERLOAD!! Above the dj booth was a huge tv, with elephant tusks on either side, the main bar was adorned with a slithering dancer on either side, and fog shot out every so often, along with confetti from the ceilings, and of course, thumping house music, the genre of choice in South Beach. Dirty South fliers were everywhere from bathroom stalls to bus stops...The clubgoers were attractive, but definitely not dressed to the nines like in L.A. All in all,I approve. AND you can smoke inside the clubs here!!!
