by Princeton A. on Previously the infamous Stork. Everything about HWood was off from the get go. The location was a terrible idea. The neighbors always complained about noise and most people cant find it.. HWood exposed the biggest flaw with the club scene in LA. If you go to the patio for fresh air, you will have to duke it out with the smokers. The bar staff are pretty nice if you are a regular like I was otherwise yeaaaa not so much. This is a big club with a small attitude. I hate the layout, I hate the two floors and the open roof top thats not really open but open enough to let in the rain. HWood is in desperate need of a refurbishment. New clubs opens in Hollywood all the time. To find the best option for you, just message me on rateclubs or check out my website. eVita Parties provides Hollywood Guest List to Hollywood Clubs & Los Angeles Events.
by Lily L. on I've always had a great time here, particularly due to the good hip hop mix and the crowd who always tends to be dancing. Although the place could get super crowded at times since the venue is quite small. The drinks vary from being watered down to super incredibly strong, although they don't carry Patron! Also not worth paying more than $10 cover however, so get onto the guestlists whenever you can! I would've given the place 4 stars but minus 1 star for the racist bouncers that my boyfriend encountered only a few nights ago. Upon stepping out for a moment towards the end of the night, the bouncers wouldn't let my boyfriend back in nor an Indian male, and yet let a group of white males walk right in. Although this only happened once, which is why I'm not completely trashing the place, it's still one too many times.
by Andra Klimko on I went here on a regular weeknight (I think it was a Tuesday) where various rappers/bands were performing (sponsored by Hot 97). I liked the size of the place, unlike other smallish live music venues I've been to. I was able to get really close to the stage which was nice when the performances were great, or when I wanted to check out the hot drummers/musicians up close. The place didn't get overly crowded and mostly everyone was there for the live music. There is an elevated area towards the back which is where the bar is too, so I think, from wherever you are in the club, you can see the stage. The sound system is good too. I didn't see too much seating here, but that may have been because the night was strictly reserved for performances, with the expectation that the audience would just be standing in the crowd. I like the location of this place too.
