Asian-style appetizers, coq au vin, nautical accent pieces, butcher-paper tablecloth and crayons - somehow, it all works. The pre-war tavern Ear Inn is one-part TGIFriday's, one part downtown dive, and chill as hell. The portions are gigantic ($7 scored me probably 30 garlicky mussels), and the food itself is comforting, unextraordinary, and priced to please at $4 - $13. The beer (it's the kind of place where ordering a cocktail would be frowned upon) menu is smart and understated. Best of all, set on a fairly deserted stretch of SoHo, Ear Inn feels like a familiar, private hideout. It's not - the building has been designated a historic landmark, and has a couple hundred years' worth of apocryphal trivia, but on a frigid weekday night, it felt like somebody's waking dream of a faraway, storied home.

this little shack is my favorite place in all of atlanta...there's so much diversity here! i love that no matter which of my friends i invite, or what they're wearing almost all [the snobby ones are the exceptions] LOVE IT! they have a good hip-hop environment, a good tech/dance environment and EVERYONE there is there for one purpose: to have fun! i hate going out to a club just to watch people stunt...there's none of that at mjq. you can party with everyone from college students to college professors; you can sit, stand, break dance, or jive to a rhythm nowhere near that of the song that's being played, and no one will look at you any differently. all around, this place is just completely fucking awesome

I went here for the first time for my first rateclub party on Wednesday...cool place, cool space, cool people...what more can you ask for? Okay, so the rest of my review is based on this one unique experience. I like the fact that each of the three levels has a different 'feel' to it and my favorite level is the bottom one, because it is cooler (temperature-wise) and more intimate than the other two, although the upstairs level has the nice DJ setup so that you can shake your ass like armageddon is around the corner...waitaminnit, wasn't that supposed to be 6/6/06? I didn't try their food and I can't vouch for their regular drinks (I enjoyed free cocktails and wine), but the space alone is worth another trip back!
