This bar is trying too hard to be cool. I have been here a few times for one birthday or another, and I've never had a really good time. You spend a lot of time waiting at this bar. The waiting begins outside. If you do not arrive before 10pm, get ready to stand in line! Once inside, after spending multiple minutes thinking about the cold beverages you will buy if you ever get in, get ready to wait again. The bar is staffed with 2 bartenders, which is not the problem. The problem is that there is only one tiny bar for the whole place. It is also conveniently located next to the incredibly long bathroom line. If you even think you may have to go to the bathroom, get in line the second that thought pops into your head because it's going to be a while. If you like crowded, hot, muggy bars where you have to wait forever to get in, drink and pee, then Middlesex Lounge is the place for you!

I came here for my 21st birthday, and then not again until very recently. The first time I came, I thought it was kind of classy - now it seems like your average fratty dive. Of course, at 21 I was a college frat guy, so I can identify with some of the people who were there. The scorpion bowls are great, and the rest of the beer isn't that expensive. After a while, they ran out of glasses and switched to plastic cups. Of course, that could be an intentional move to reduce accidents. The music was a bit loud; apparently that causes people to order more alcohol. There wasn't much happening upstairs (just couples dancing), so we took it over for a while.
