Feels like walking into a Tijuana nightclub going underground into a cheesy wonderland...which, after having a couple shots & beers at the Buddha bar, cheesy was just what we were looking for. Cheesy, yes....dirty, yes...rude bartenders, yes...old guy singing WAY too many Chinese karaoke songs, yes. Did I mention dirty? See the pic I uploaded of their urinal...that's what I'd expect in a 3rd world country. This place is lame, plain and simple. Avoid at all costs. Buddha bar on Grant (and the place across the street from BB) are both great. L'Amour, not so much.
by Nereida Valotta on I was here on a Friday night and it happened to be Korean night. I was hoping to hear some Lee Jung Hyun or Se7en or something Korean-ish just to set it apart from other clubs. Or maybe even an Asian American artist or something of the sort. But I was disappointed -- all they played was mainstream American Hip Hop. I did like the ladies swinging from the ceiling. That was kinda funny. And that admission hand stamp with the Japanese characters. Cute. The decor was hella creative and Japanese-ish. I'd like to decorate my house this way. I wasn't so into the crowd though. I think I outgrew my Asian pride phase. Plus they were all pretty young. Mostly about younger 20something set. Or maybe as old as me since most of us Asians look young anyway. Lol. I wonder how much better it is on a Saturday night though. Lucky for me, New York clubs stay open till 4 so I hopped on to a different venue.
by Marcus C. on I thought this was a beautiful space, and I was tempted to explore the hot tub upstairs, but I could not get over the fact that the sound system was HORRIBLE. It has potential, but really, the crowd was pretty meh and the static and feedback over the system made me cringe, even when they played "umbrella" ella ella eh eh eh...
