I sincerely hope that all the 4 and 5-star reviews are HEAVILY influenced by the free food. The atmosphere is cool, with the vaulted ceilings and awesome lighting. Entertainment is great: hired dancers on the stage for everyone to watch. The experience as a whole just sucks, though. The people in a club can ruin the experience for you. I'm 26, and I felt old here. As I looked around, it seemed like it was full of young douchebags and platinum-blonde girls that just turned 21 and wanted to learn how to party. Way too drunk to be having actual fun anymore, just causing scenes and running around like 12-year-olds, bumping into people. The music was horrible, to boot, so it was hard to have fun even with my group of adequately tipsy friends. I ran into some other friends that went here the night after I did - their experience sounded much better, so maybe I just got stuck with a bad crowd/dj on my day.

A beautiful theatre (yeah, spelt R before E, all fancy like), decorated Baroque-like with the fleur de lis all over and crap. Its such a pretty place in the middle of dirty downtown. We parked a block away for $5. The crowd outside wasn't out of control and entry was a cinch. A friendly usher helped me to my seat. The sound in the theatre was perfect. It wasn't too loud. Its not a nightclub, right? The seats weren't so uncomfortable for me. We didn't get drinks, but the cupholders are on the seat in front of you, at your ankles. The seating is really steep. So you can clearly see the stage from any seat in the house. Unless the couple in front of you keeps leaning over to eachother to whisper things to eachother and kiss. I wanted to punch them in the back of their stupid heads.

Pretty space, good attention to detail as far as nightclubs go, such as pull out drawers under the seating at reserved tables to stash pocketbooks, etc...GREAT idea, especially for what it costs to reserve a table at these places. Lots of hype still surround Marquee, so it's not easy to get in. Was there recently for a holiday party and the entire NY Ranger team was there. It's NYCnightlife, so you ought to know what you are getting yourself into. Marquee is certainly not reinventing the club "wheel" but it's a fun place nonetheless.
