If I were cool I would wear my sunglasses inside at night, in a crowded bar while listening to bad house jams. No really, thats what I would do . . . Psych Honestly, I'm pretty surprised to see how many gave the g spot a relatively solid review. Well to each his own, and if you are one of the members of the elite class of boozehounds who loves this spot, far be it for me to judge. Here are the highlights as I see 'em. Philly has a lot to offer in the realm of dive bars and shadowy gin joints. Some are cool, some are not. What this city's night life scene seems to lack is a great lounge and G tries to fill that gap. Albeit I'm new here, I call it like I see it. Lets be honest, sometimes we all like to go out and spend it like we got it . . . or at least I do, maybe that makes me weird, but hey, thats what I'm into. The problem with G lounge is that it has all the pretentiousness of a SOHO banger with none of the class. There is VIP bottle service. Its overpriced. There is a dress code. It makes the crowd seem somewhat contrived, as if just crammed into their latest swag simply to fit the part. Frankly, you shouldn't have to force people to look slick. Your spot should do that for you. I also got a good chuckle out of the fact that just throwing on a untucked collared shirt counts a classing-it-up for the evening. I will say the girls, many of whom spent some quality time dancing on top of one table or another, were consistently smoking. Dimes, top of the line, cute face, little waist and a big behind. However, I'm a sucker for skin tight dresses and high heel shoes. Who isn't right? But I digress . . . There is a DJ. I've been there a handful of times now and the MC has never put the place on its feet, there are far better places in this City for a party. The decor is fine. The doormen are quite content to make let you stand outside for a while, only to arrive indoors to find the club relatively empty - I suspect this is just a trick to make passer-bys see the line and go "Whoa, that place must be cool." Bottom line, go for the ladies, but not the scene. I'll be elsewhere.

I only had wine here so I can't speak to the food but I did peruse the menu and saw enough to make me want to return for food. I was surprised by some of the interesting sounding stuff. I liked their wine list. It was a little small but interesting and had a few wines that are not too common yet I still know them and like them very much. I think all the wines are available by bottle or glass. The bathrooms are nice, the service is friendly and the music was good. It's a comfortable place to lounge. Our server was friendly and attentive although he did admit that they were short a server so they were sort of tag-teaming us. But, I thought he was cute so I even let it slide that it took us a really long time to get our check (although this made Grandpa Kit terribly grumpy). They have a parking lot, which was full, but we were all able to find close street parking. I look forward to returning to Top Flr.

Our supper club goes to a different restaurant every month. We go on offpeak nights so we aren't crowding the place. When we arranged it the group was thirteen, but we lost two due to babysitter complications. The restaurant didn't have us sign any contract or tell us about a minimum charge. They sat 11 of us and served us delicious food and then charged us for 13 people at $72 a head and then add tax and tip. We were stuck with quite a bill. The night staff said they couldn't help since they didn't arrange large parties. The large party lady told our organizer that we were out of luck and she said there was nothing we could do. Well there is.... it's called Rateclub. Summary - Great food, crooked operations, this kind of business practice is unfair.
