Its all right over there, but I just walked by it on Sunday and I don't know. It looked like it needed much more work than just the few more days before Pride. I won't be here as I usually go to Toronto instead, but, hey, if it opens in time, right on!

The absolutely lovely husband took me to this restaurant last night for my birthday. We had been wanting to try it for quite awhile, we love it's sister restaurant Two Urban Licks. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. To start with, he had made reservations 2 weeks in advance. When he spoke with the restaurant, they were completely wonderful. They told him that they put us down for 8:30 and that since it was my birthday, we would be given a free dessert. We were so excited b/c they truly sounded like they were going to give us a great experience. The interior wasn't anything short of lovely w/ the velvet drapes that you walk through upon entering and the modern lighting hanging from the ceiling. The great experience that we were hoping for turned into a disaster as soon as we were seated. We didn't realize we were going to be dining with 2 other couples, but that is exactly what it felt like. Now I had read that the seating was close, but when you can reach out half of your arm span and touch the person next to you, it's just not pleasant to say the least. We dealt with it for awhile, although Brock told me that the woman sitting next to me was listening to every word we said. I had been staring at a booth across the way from us, a couple had been sitting there and they suddenly got up. I couldn't resist suggesting that maybe we should ask for the booth since nobody seemed to be waiting up at the front. It was my birthday after all and I wanted to be able to enjoy the meal as best I could. The gentleman that he is, Brock immediately got up and went to the front to ask. They told him that it was possible, to go back to the table and wait and they would come to us. Soon enough the guy came and told us that they had other reservations coming in shortly and that they needed the booth space, but that they could put us at a private table on the other side of the restaurant, which we agreed to. They escorted us to the other end of the bar and out a door. We entered what seemed to be a sun room. All of the noise was blocked off out here, which was good b/c we could hear our own conversation, but all of the restaurant's ambiance was now gone. This little space didn't make us feel like we were dining in One anymore. We were not ready to let this ruin the evening for us, so he ordered a martini and I ordered a glass of wine (they do have a great wine list). We were served the bread/breadsticks and hummus w/ olive oil. Okay, but nothing to write home about. Our waiter suggested the South Carolina Grouper over the Grilled Rack of Shrimp to me, so I went with the grouper, hoping that the food would make up for the seating. Brock ordered the brisket. When my eyes took in the green moat surrounding the fish that was placed in front of me, I knew that all hopes for redemption were lost. What was supposed to be a green onion broth looked like milky green soup. And the risotto that accompanied the dish was floating in it. As for the brisket, it was good with a little spice to it, served w/ red pepper grits which were a great addition. I usually am not big on sending food back, but I couldn't even begin to eat the overcooked fish in the tasteless liquid. The waiter apologized and brought me the shrimp, which was around 6 shrimp on a skewer placed on top of a few stems of broccoli rabi, about 5 cannelini beans, and 4 tiny pieces of chorizo, decent, definitely not wonderful. Finally, as if the our experience at One had not been enough of a let down already, I even got dissed on my free birthday dessert! Our waiter was all to eager to sell us dessert, "don't you want some dessert, it's your birthday" , but there was no mention of getting it for free. We passed and left the restaurant knowing that, although unfortunate, we won't be returning.

Yum Yum Yum Yummy is the only way to describe STK the Steaks are super good, the appetizers are even better...The Apple Crap cake salad is to die for, huge chunks of fresh kind crab with a lime dressing with fresh cantalope slices and some greens are a refreshing take on a normally not so surprising dish...the Tuna ceviche is also a refreshing palate starter...just the right amount of tuna and seasoning to give you a great taste of the freshness of the ingredients used but not overwhelme you with the lime and seasonings traditionally used in ceviche.... The ambience alone is worth the price of the food, if going for the food was not good enough for you. It has this awesome bar with what looks like shark ribs on the walls, lux couches, impeccable servers, and although a bit pricey for the drinks, the mohitoes and mixed drinks here are a SMASH!!! Great place for entertaining, not a very quiet place though, gets uber crowded...I wouldn;t take a 1st date here but I would go with clients or friends, cuz it can get a bit crowded and noisy
