by Jacob Guardian on Stopped by Deluxe last night. It's got that fun, it's-almost-like-we're-at-a-night-club ambience for people who want to feel like they're going out when they eat. The tables were all lit up blue, the furniture is very modern and the music was hoppin'. I ordered the Classic-Standard Burger. The food and service was good, but I have one major complaint. The prices are outrageous. The burger I ordered was $9.90 and didn't come with fries, but instead, a teacup sized serving of melon. Like every other red-blooded American, I like my burger with a side of fries. It cost me $6 to get that. (These were not $6 fries.) And while our service was otherwise good, when I asked about ordering fries for moi our waiter didn't suggest the $3 alternative (1/2 portion). I still don't think you should have to pay additional for fries with a burger, but hey, that would've been better. I get it, they're hip, the food is tasty, and they're kitsch so the prices are high. But there's limits to how much you can charge for a simple burger and fries. For that price or less I can go to Houston's and get a burger with amazing shoe-string fries or get one with fries and fruit at AZ88. (Both restaurants are larger and their wine lists and menus are too.) My advice to the owners: make your almost non-existent serving of fruit exchangeable for a satisfying portion of fries. If you are going to charge for fries as a separate, (hahem, your competitors don't), they shouldn't range from $5 (regular) - $6 (sweet potato) for a full serving. The fries taste pretty much exactly like Fuddruckers'.
by Jay S. on Great for groups and birthday parties. Loud music, big bar, dance floor, drunken mishaps and good times!! Bruno's is always a good time. Sometimes when you don't want to spend too much at Mejdool just down the street. B's is without the rooftop but takes you down memory lane with lots of unknown paths leading to unforgettable people. Cheers to a great night a Bruno's. If you are a group of 5 or more, I generally get priority and no cover. Always negotiate baby.
by Danny Fleming on This club is like a weeble wobble--it just doesn't fall down! I hadn't been to DNA in years and was lured back last Friday for the Donovan/Kaskade party. I didn't even recognize the inside from the days I used to go go dance there every Friday night for Casino Royale or from the times that the big club DJs would spin. Everything and everyone was positive-high-energy on Friday--from the coat check woman to the bartender to the crowd. It was like a big love puddle of fun and now I know to go back before another decade passes!!
