I don't know what it is about Jakes Dilemma, but every time I go there, I end up having a great time. From the outside, Jake's looks like a dive bar and looks like a place you might pass by on your way to something more swanky downtown, or a chain like Brother Jimmy's next door, but Jakes is an all around solid bar. The bartender and wait staff do an excellent job taking care of you and making sure you don't have to wait forever for a drink. The drinks are reasonable, especially during happy hours from 4-8pm, which offers a half-priced special. There is an area for dancing and good music from the 80's, 90's and today emanate throughout the bar. Couple this with foozeball. beer pong, pool, arcade games, and even a lounge area resembling a library or old fashioned study, enables you to set your tone for the night. Along with that, every time I go there I end up meeting fun people, who are friendly and more than willing to talk, chill, and grab some drinks with you, which is far from the standard in NYC nightlife

The Creme de la Creme of restaurants I've been able to find in Atlanta so far. The menu is pseudo-tapas, most times I have not been able to get past the appetizers before I have to let the belt out. The few times I have gotten an entree it has been passed around the table and everyone had a bite (or 3 or 4). This place is a MUST GO destination for Foodies, (and your out of town FOODIE friends). The wine selection is impressive, and can even be intimidating, but the times I've had the waitstaff recommend something, I've never been disappointed. If you're going, order the mussels, (even if your not really a fan of them at other places). They are cooked in a garlic, and tomato sauce, and they are wonderful. The other thing to check out is the fried goat cheese with honey. It is a revelation. That's the only way to describe it. I've never had anything like that in my fairly extensive food life. Looking for a plan of attack for Ecco? Get a group of friends together, sit down order a bottle of wine, and start with meats/cheeses and the appetizers, keep ordering appetizers and you won't even get to the entrees before your stuffed...BUT save room for dessert! Trust me when I say this, (actually this is the Internet so you probably won't trust anything I say, but damnit!). Save room for dessert. They make an olive oil cake with black pepper ice cream and blood orange marmalade....Yes you read that correctly, and it's a dessert. and it's REALLY REALLY Good. a totally unique taste that I've never had before. So in closing, if your looking for a unique dining experience with new tastes, check out Ecco.

The first time I went to a Spazmatic Sunday I loved it. 5+ times later I could live without ever returning. It's a young, hip, fun crowd. Which makes for a young, hip, fun time. But when you know all the songs in the set hearing them every Sunday night makes for redundancy. Still, it's a good time the first couple times around. You are sure to see some B/C/D list "celebrity" - I've seen Ryan Cabrerra, Trishelle from the Real World, the Laguna Beach girls and some other randos -- no one too interesting/exciting. But if your into 80s I'd definitely recommend seeing the Spazmatics at least once in your young Hollywood lifetime. PS Not all the bars accept credit cards so bring cash for your drinks and for a Hollywood street vendor hot dog after your drunken flashback of a night.
