not too shabby, premiere. it's exclusive and awesome without the usual hollywood snobbery. (although if you don't look good and can't dress, you do deserve to get bounced out) the male door bitch was a sweetheart and let me and 4 friends in (1 is a guy) really easily. throwing in a couple of compliments too:) overall the space is a little small so it's easy to get bored. we walked upstairs and downstairs a couple of times just to keep things interesting. but i wont bother with getting tables or whatever because there's plenty of space to sit. and people here are pretty baller so dont be surprised when bottles of champagne and grey with sparklers keep going to certain tables. great music, beautiful people, and everyone has a great attitude. super fun night out.

When I moved to Austin I was bar hopping on 6th and was surprisingly not even allowed into this joint. The bouncer told me "he couldn't hang with my shoes," a pair of mighty fine Nike high-tops I might add. I was stumped, but soon realized this was a dress policy. There was no one in there. How can you have a strict dress policy on 6th Street? Jeez, what a pretentious place. Good for a laugh as you walk somewhere else.

We pull up outside and there is ample parking, it's well lit and safe. +1 star We get through the line quickly, pay our $15 and get a stamp that allows us to come and go as we please. +1 star Hilarious DJ is mixing drinks and pushing them into the crowd as well as spinning great beats. Plus - great Malawian performers do a remix of MIA's Paper Planes. Great fun. +1 star Perfect crowd - the really enthusiastic listeners crammed up toward the front and onto the stage, pulling down the inflatable palm trees and tossing them around, having a blast. Serious dancers move back and spread out, without crowding the bar for those who came to drink. +2 stars Cash only. -1 star Overall - very happy!

Update 3/15/07: Isabel and Sean, the new owners of Mighty, are the most amazing couple and have made Mighty even better than ever. The venue was the perfect space for the rateclubs event there last night. Great DJ lineup and awesome sound system. Can't wait for my DJ to throw a party there. When it's past 2am and you still feel like dancing, Mighty is a great spot to hit up. There's always a crowd circling around a couple break dancers battling it out and people dancing like there's no one watching. Salted Saturdays is a cool party, but if you're not on the guestlist, expect to pay a $20 cover. The crowd is pretty eclectic and the club is more spacious than 111 Minna.
