I have gone to Bar Chi at least 15 times since it opened a month ago! I LOVE IT! My wife and I have been weekly or bi-weekly regulars to Uchi and Uchiko for the last year and when they dropped a bunch of unique items, we started looking for a new sushi restaurant. Bar Chi opened up right in front of our building downtown! Benny, the GM, is awesome. He remembered my name from the first time that I went in and Mark, the Assistant Manager, also remembered! We have been very happy with the service at Bar Chi as well and have had Mike help us out several times who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. The happy hour at Bar Chi is really, really affordable for anyone. They have some of the best gyoza (dumplings) in the city and their sushi seems to keep getting better. I noticed that the super white tuna (escolar) was the best that I have had in Austin last night. I recently hosted a party for 55 friends for the 30th birthday party of my young wife and Bar Chi allowed us to use the entire main dining room! We had dedicated servers, amazing dishes that were always updated and fresh, and the total bill was really, really reasonable considering that I had an open bar and all-you-can-eat sushi and other dishes. I would do it again in a heartbeat. They even let me bring in a friend to play guitar and sing during dinner. If you are looking for a really good value but with great food and even better staff and service, then you need to go to Bar Chi. Tell them that Mike sent you! Benny might even treat you to a drink if you are nice enough!

Delux is that hip place you get to overpay for a burger. Who cares about overpaying when you're in the Arcadia area anyway? The atmosphere is cool, burgers are great, beer selection is eclectic with many choices, wines by the glass are good, but bottle list could be a little nicer considering the clientelle. Not that many nice wines pair well with sandwiches, I'd just like to see a little more creativity from the owner/management. I've been here many times, and will be here many more.

I came to Le Club the other night for a private party hosted by an acquaintance of mine.  My friend Jill kept hyping this spot all night: "lets go to 1250 Jones!  1250 Jones!" over and over again...I thought it was going to be some nameless, shady warehouse type deal with overpriced drinks being sold illegally- similar to Insomnia and Bodyshoppe, so I reluctantly agreed to go. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had it all wrong.  We arrived at this swanky apartment building with a glamorous marble lobby, and were escorted into this luxe space to the left of the lobby called "Le Club".  It turns out the private party we were attending was being held at this new venue to be opened in the next month or so.  I liked the space a lot- low ceilings, chandeliers, plush furniture and rich, dark colors.  I can tell Le Club is going to be one of the city's next chic spots to hang out at- once the construction is all finished, that is.  Oh, and one gripe: they only had one, single stall bathroom for women, so the line was literally out the door all night.  I hope they plan on installing another one, because that was a disaster. I spoke with the general manager who informed me a little bit about how Le Club will be operated once it opens.  They are planning to uphold a "reservation only" policy, similar to the Bourbon & Branch system, although I wont be surprised if they become lenient about that as popularity increases and time passes.  He also mentioned that they will be offering a free town car service because the neighborhood they are located in has a serious lack of cabs.  So, if you and your party arrive to soon before your reservation is ready,  he informed me that their car service will take you to another destination to kill time.  Pretty cool- we'll see how that works out as the place gets more and more popular, however. All in all- I was pleasantly surprised by the upscale space and I'm excited to return here when it officially opens- gotta love a new "chi-chi-foo-foo" spot with overpriced cocktails!
