ive been coming to this venue since the wholefoods next door was the parking lot youd get into fight after the club.  saga, avaron, bellagio, boss..... this newest remodel is perhaps the only real reinvention of itself. though some of the same people maybe involved, they did a real good job of cleaning up the place and making it more into a real nightlife spot rather than overhyped bar with music. to be honest, i dont do clubbing. im not a get all fancied up and have a night out type. id rather sit at a bar or a lounge and chum it up with the folks. however this night, the older sister was in town and.... wait what!?!?! you want to go clubbing?!?!  sure, why not. i put on the cleanest pair of jeans i could find and a sweater and hop a cab to 4th street. oh man. am i really going clubbing? i didnt even know the place changed up until i got there. wtf. white people at boss? thats odd. theres a line? meh. ill wait. gives me a few minutes to smoke.... ok maybe not. one of the blacksuit guys pulls me from the line and after a quick verification, he walks me to the front and pass the ropes and said, tell the hostess youre eugene. coolio. as i get through the familiar sets of doors... wow. they did do a pretty good job. they took out all the rooms and made booths. they blew out that whole area to the left and made another bar. nice. cheesy cloth curtains work when its dark and youre drinking. i really like the layout of this place. they did a great job. but best yet, the crowd. no longer just drunken asian kids (me included). nice mixed crowd of folks. and oh man, the hostest was smoking hot. good lord. whoever hired her, good job. i quickly sit at our booth and drink way too much way too fast and forget the rest of the night... but i will say this. this place did a good job of reinventing itself. i love that they took out the rooms for booths. i love they went for the mixed crowd. i love that the staff knows what they are doing and get things done. more than likely, this is the type of place that would probably keep me waiting in line all night unless i happened to plan ahead and drop some cash, the main reason i hate clubbing, because you are so quickly sized up in line with no real regards to who you are, what you spend, etc....i digress. yes. either come here with hot chicks or plan ahead or know somebody. combination of or all three of these will help. i just might have to come by this place more often. hell, i spend a couple hundred dollars on a tab at a dive bar on a tuesday night.... maybe i should class it up a bit.

i LOVE this place.  I've only been here twice but both times were pretty cool.  It's small and intimate and no matter where you sit, there's not a bad seat in the place. It's definitely something different to experience if this isn't your usual thing... and for me, it's usually not, but I still enjoyed it A LOT.  It's the type of place where you can sit back and listen to the music and bob your head while chowing down on some yummy food.  Have some laughs, drinks and good times while groovin along to some outstanding performances.  Maybe this should be my regular thing.  =) The first time I went  was a couple of years ago (before my rateclub days hehe). I had the YUMMY southern fried chicken which is definitely a must have. We were with a big group for my birthday and they were very accomodating and gave us a really memorable experience. People still have memories of going here and how cool a place it was. So, because of the fond memories, I decided to venture back this past weekend for the boyfriend's birthday.  This time it was just me and him rather than a big group, so there were no restrictions on the menu.  I had the brisket with mashies while he had the Jambalaya.  mmm... both dishes were pretty good but I'd like to have tried the crab cakes.  The seafood jambalaya the boyfriend got was REALLY GOOD.. mmm yummm... We finished up our dinner and got to relax and kick back to watch E.C. Scott perform which was really entertaining.  It wasn't just someone standing on stage singing.  She interacted with the crowd and had funny little comments and just had fun with her performance.  And the band was really good that night too and got everyone having a good time. So we really enjoyed ourselves and had fun. =)

The infamous fusion wrap is a problem for me because if I go more than a week without one I start to twitch. The fusion wrap was created one day when Kat's husband was kind enough to combine their chicken wrap with the shrimp wrap. This encounter was truly love at first bite for me. LOL If you live here in Atlanta and have not yet checked out Kat's Cafe, you need to get on it! Kat has a MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com...) and the cafe can be found in the Piedmont Park area. There are $5 martini drink specials on Friday from 5 pm - 9 pm with $8.99 snow crabs and $3 appetizers. In addition, Thursday night at 9 pm there is a live band and Kat even sings from time to time alongside local talent. Two more reasons I love Kat's Cafe is that there is no cover and parking is FREE. I don't know about you, but I am tired of having to break my neck to make it to a particular venue by a pre-determined time in order to not pay a bootleg cover. At the same time, you are more than welcome to work out the details of having a private event. All in all Kat's Cafe is one of my favorite chill spots regardless of the day of the week. See you at Kat's.
