by Kris G. on went to manor west for a girlfriend's birthday this weekend, and while i had a great time overall, i wasn't that impressed. we arrived early for a friday, around 10:30, and the place was EMPTY. i'm talking four people on the dance floor... and they were from our group. while it filled up later, it never really got packed. despite the lack of patrons, MW has an abundance of busboys waiting to trip you up by darting between your legs to wipe up spills on the ground. i'm as much for cleanliness as anyone, but one of the busboys actually bumped a friend, spilling his drink all over the booth and himself. naturally, the busboy cleaned that up super quick, but seeing as how he was sort of the cause in the first place.... the other thing about MW is the actual space. we had one of the booths along side of the dance floor reserved for our table service, but if you didn't, you really had no place to loiter except the fringes of the dance floor. this leads to a lot of creepers staring at the girls dancing; not so enjoyable for said ladies. i don't know that i'd go back to MW without table service; especially after seeing all the rateclubss from people who stood in line and never got in. i believe if you have fun people with you, you can have fun anywhere... i just think i'd rather have fun somewhere else besides MW.
by Robyn F. on i was pretty disappointed coming here last Saturday. the music was pretty bad and it was so loud that i couldn't hear anyone, even if they shouted in my ear. despite how trendy it looks on the website, the actual club looks pretty shoddy inside. maybe i'm just getting old and can't take loud music, but they should tone it down a little in the bar area (though keep the dance area volume the same).
by Damion Rohrbach on The infamous fusion wrap is a problem for me because if I go more than a week without one I start to twitch. The fusion wrap was created one day when Kat's husband was kind enough to combine their chicken wrap with the shrimp wrap. This encounter was truly love at first bite for me. LOL If you live here in Atlanta and have not yet checked out Kat's Cafe, you need to get on it! Kat has a MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com...) and the cafe can be found in the Piedmont Park area. There are $5 martini drink specials on Friday from 5 pm - 9 pm with $8.99 snow crabs and $3 appetizers. In addition, Thursday night at 9 pm there is a live band and Kat even sings from time to time alongside local talent. Two more reasons I love Kat's Cafe is that there is no cover and parking is FREE. I don't know about you, but I am tired of having to break my neck to make it to a particular venue by a pre-determined time in order to not pay a bootleg cover. At the same time, you are more than welcome to work out the details of having a private event. All in all Kat's Cafe is one of my favorite chill spots regardless of the day of the week.
