by Denise C. on Viva North Beach, San Francisco! Bimbo's is very much a part of the scene on the hill! I love this club. I saw Ms. Jolie Holland at this club. Sean Hayes opened. I think I missed Yeah Yeah Yeahs play one time. It's dark and smoky and classic. It has that musky thick old time San Francisco feel because it's legendary! I recommend it.

After a nailpolish remover cocktail was placed in front of me, I almost booked it for the exit... turns out it wasn't my lacking palate, but the ingredients that the bartender mixed! A dozen apologies, and many complimentary cocktails later, I had forgotten the biting taste. The cheese plate was delectable, and although I say that about anything with cheese in it, this one truly topped my list. With the usual selection of vegetable side dishes for entree options, my vegetarian tummy was a little sad; why do the classy of SF refuse to swing my way? But wait! The chef was up to the challenge! He managed to prepare a fabulous veggie entree that left me more in love with asparagus that I was before. Skipped dessert but enjoyed the truffles that came out later anyway, and enjoyed the second round of unordered truffles even more! Top it off with a little kalua on the rocks, and oh huuunnnnniiieeee I was feelin fly. The decor is a little cheese (and not in the good way), and the crowd stuffy, but you know, its nob hill.

I'm tempted to say that the party is over here, but when I went the other month it felt just as "exclusive," as the first time I came here a couple years ago. Again, I'm not a really big fan of the whole clubbing idea so for what it is, its great, just not my cup of tea.
