by Denise C. on bleh. I definitely saw Rilo Kiley here. I might have seen theboyleastlikelyto also. I'm not sure because the venue is not that memorable. It's another one the city of San Francisco. It's not that easy to get booked. They offer a lot of indie rock bands. I don't mind it, but it's not that legendary. It's missing the sugar and spice. Also, it's located in a seedier part of downtown San Francisco, but I think it's better to patronize rock music venues than strip clubs, so rock ON!
by Liz R. on Food was the worst combination of bland and bad for you- where do they get off calling themselves healthy? I went with a large group last night so we ordered lots of different dishes. The vegetable lo mein had some canned water chestnuts and a few sad snowpeas; all of the various chicken dishes were too sweet tasting, the scallion pancakes were so deep fried they lost any taste. And let me remain a lady, but in the interest of public safety indicate that I have been very very sick today.
by Ramiro Shehata on I've only been to Harlot half a dozen times. But I know the vibe. It is what it is. And it's better than most, not as good as others. It manages to be artsy-hip, without appearing to care. Dark and murky, but in a squeaky Mr. Clean meets Johnny Depp kind of way. The music obscure, but not above playing a Postal Service remix, and a little Cure... and that's why you're there. It's just the right mix of coke in the bathroom-meets-your boss at the bar. Loose tie, Secretary in hand. And there's that girl who works at the cafe. Of course she's here. What a bitch. Stop staring. You look away. Too late. She'll give you that, "didn't I see you at..." look... But you keep coming back for your Soy-No Whip-Americano-Frappadappa do, don't you? Of course you do. Whether it's the "f*ck off" way she hands you your drink or the "you're a Perv" way that she happens to bend over in front of you to pick up her pen. You keep coming back. Cause you are what you are, and she is what she is. End of story. End of the night. The Harlot.
