Nice decor, delicious food (we got the chef's tasting menu that included tuna, lobster ravioli, halibut, chicken, lamp, and a salty caramel dessert), very pricey.  Great service.

Do I even need to write a review..? No, not really, but for the sake of my rateclubs profile's completeness, I will just say that this place is great to kick back for drinks with a good crowd, good ambiance, good drinks. I really like the decor here, the black and white movies projected onto the brick walls, and the leather seats and couches dispersed throughout.  On a weekday there's plenty of room to stand at the bar, walk around, and mingle, but weekends can definitely get pretty packed. Drinks are your standard $10-14ish each... crowd is a mix of young and older professionals, ethnically diverse, usually pretty well-dressed (strict dress code here).... music is perfect lounge-y music... Overall a very cool place to hang out.

I usually go to King King to hear some good house DJs but Vanguard gets some awesome DJs too. I've experienced the best and worst of this place. The best being the DJs the worst being everything else.  My biggest gripe is the "No in and out" rule. It threw me right back to my underage clubbing days. I didn't think I'd have to deal with that after I turned 21 and started going to grown-up clubs. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the staff here can be rude, mostly on Giant nights. For some reason the staff seems to have a better attitude during Deep events on Sundays. I've had mixed results with the guestlist. They say it's free before 10:30. I've gotten there a few minutes after 10:30 on a Saturday and walked right up to the entrance and they let me in and I didn't have to pay. Another Saturday I got there at 10 and had to wait in line and they basically made everyone in line wait until 10:30, then they started letting people in and charged everyone cover. Not cool at all. Drinks were mediocre. The outdoor patio is nice. The dancefloor could use some serious ventilation. All in all, I'm not setting foot in this place unless there's a really good DJ. If it weren't for the DJs this place wouldn't last at all.
