From the moment I saw this place from across the street, I knew I loved it. That was before I even noticed the outdoor-truck-seating-6-top or all the ceramic cocks on the shelves inside. This place screams character- pure, original, delicious character. The menu was short and sweet and I was torn between the raved-about french toast and the more lunch-y beef stew (we both went for the french toast because even though we love eachother, we could tell this wasn't sharing food- no matter how big the proportion was!). OH MY GOD! The butternut squash and apples brioche french toast was so good I think I hurt myself trying to finish it all. Thank goodness the hubby had to go get cash (cash only, folks), giving me more time to sip my coffee, read a magazine from their basket, and finish off the squash. Go early and you'll feel like you own the place! Wait staff were friendly and fast. The only downside for me was that each item was $14-$16 bucks- kinda steep for brunch, but totally worth it in my opinion. Afterall, it's not just fried eggs.

so in full disclosure i shoudl admit that i prob didnt come to the frying pan at the right time or with the right group size. this is definitely a place that should be enjoyed during a very sunny day and with a large group of friends. i am not handicapping the place 2 stars because it was cold the day i went and because i came with a small group. i am only deducting one star for that. the other star is being deducted because the bitch bartender laughed when i showed her my id and said that isnt you. i tried to explain to her that it was in fact me but that i have changed a lot in the past 5 years. she just kept laughing and said listen ill give you your drinks but that isnt you. needless to say she got a wonderful tip: dont be a bitch to your customers. at least i got a good view while i was drinking the 36 dollar bucket of coronas i "illegally" purchased.

This is a perfect, intimate venue to see a jazz performance. In fact, I saw Hiroshima play here and was happy with the acoustics and the view from the back of the room. The bar food here is really expensive for the portion size and there isn't much to choose from. After nibbling on their high-priced snacks, my friend and I had to run somewhere that had LARGE portions (namely, Cheesecake Factory). For $59.68 we got 1 order of dumplings, 1 miniscule cheese plate and 2 alcoholic bevvies and 3 non-alcoholic drinks.
