A couple friends and I came here to watch the World Series. You would think that a bar/restaurant on Polk St would know this is a big event and staff appropriately. Mayes had ONE bartender, One Server, and One Busser. My friends and I had to go and wait at the bar to order food and drinks. Our oysters took 45 minutes to come. They were good, but it's hard to screw that up- we would have eaten chalk at this point, so oysters were more than welcome.. I just felt so bad for the two girls whose sole responsibility it was to try to serve the hundreds of patrons that any jackass bar owner shoulda known would show up to watch the local team play in the series- the place has nine televisions, after all. Which begs the question, where was the owner? Why wouldn't he roll up his sleeves and help man the ship? Because he decided it would be a better idea to sit in a booth.... with his children, then bail after they were done watching the game. Obviously, he takes parenting just as seriously as running this place. After all, who wouldn't want their children in a crowded bar with people screaming profanities on a school night... I wish I could offer a review of the food, but wasn't offerred a menu once in the three hours we were there.

Came here with my B&T friends who were totally NOT into it. It was a Burner fund-raising event, so yeah, imagine the crowd. The music wasn't that great and it was so effin' loud it mad my teeth rattle (I have my own teeth). Maybe next time it will be better.

Went last night with a friend that had the hook-up. DO NOT attempt to go if you a) don't know an owner, b) don't have a table reservation. Place is NO RULES, people smoking cigs, weed, doing key bumps, all out in the open. It's a trip for sure, its obviously expensive but i highly recommend going and experiencing.
