The place is pretty to look at, but the drinks aren't a good value, and the basement is really gross and smokey.

It's one of my favorite places to go in Atlanta.  I love their fried calamari (yes, it's typical but I do love it!) with hot and spicy sauce.  I usually hit it up when an artist/dj comes in town.  Grab dinner early to avoid the line and head down to the basement for some good music afterward.  Atmosphere is relaxed, no one grill on you for looking wack, hot or not.  You might find one or two utensil dirty or chipped serving plates, but the waiters are friendly and the crowd are fresh.  Warning though, parking is not pleasant and the Mission is right behind the joint.

Avalon is huge, but the music was definitely not my scene. If you like techno or house, and watching older people get it on, then come here. Also if you enjoy shelling out $30 cover. yea.
