by Horacio Witherite on Groovin', sippin', watchin' people from the balcony bar above the dance floor....I love the P.Diddy style all white lounge upstairs. This joint somehow has a dancehall feel and ultralounge vibe all at the same time. What's not to like?
by Elaine C. on My friend was performing at some Japanese hip hop event, so I went with my other friend. We drank, and people didn't really dance (which always bothers me at clubs). I don't know if it's because Japanese reggae isn't really for dancing, or maybe people weren't drinking enough. Regardless of the event and the people at the event, the venue is very well decorated. It's cozy, has a lot of plush pillows in the seating areas, and the people who work there weren't mean to me or my friend. The bathroom was decently clean; it wasn't out of toilet paper or paper towels. I noticed that there were some medium sized Buddha statues in the place as well. I'm not really into clubbing anymore, but if you're thinking about going to this place, well, go check it out - if anything, get drunk and stare at the Buddhas.
by Nikki K. on I went to The Varsity for the first time when I was in seventh grade and had no idea that in a few years I would be vegan. Maybe this place caused me to be vegan, who knows... Anyway, my dad took me and my six friends here before a Nelson concert ( yes, I will admit I saw them...twice) and it was good, but I remember feeling like crapolla during the show because I felt like a 20 pound weight was in my belly. That is The Varsity's thing. You gorge yourself on tasty, greasy food, then feel it afterwards unless you have a stomach of iron. If you are a carnivore, go here and enjoy the greasy goodness. If that isn't your thing, steer clear! But do know the lingo- there is a sort of shorthand they expect you to use in order to get what you want.
