by Duncan Swearngin on I really liked this place. It looks like a huge, beautiful house, with plenty of space. I went with my friends on a Saturday night, and it was crowded, but not packed. So while you felt like you were in a cool place, you didn't feel every single person rubbing up on you. It has plenty of bars, making it really easy to get drinks, and a place to dance inside and a place to chill outside. Overall, a good time (especially for Hollywood). However, $20 cover is ridiculous. I'm already spending enough on those drinks. But again, this is why I usually don't go out in Hollywood.
by Jenny K. on I made my first visit here since the renovation. 3.5 stars. Bruno's is a cool, hip joint. Love the retro decor, emphasized by the 1950s movies in Technicolor playing on the various flat screen TVs mounted on the walls. For those who want the bar experience, it is probably best to chill out in the front room and take advantage of the stool seating and long bar. As you make your way through Bruno's, there is a chill out room and then a large back room with another long bar and a dance floor for those who want more of a club experience. The crowd on the Saturday night I visited was Marina-esque: a mix of primarily Asian 20-somethings and Caucasian 20-somethings, many of the men wearing the Marina uniform (striped button down shirts and jeans). The place got ridiculously crowded and hot. Moving room to room became very difficult and annoying and it was nearly impossible to carry a conversation without shouting. I would love to visit on a weeknight when it is likely less packed. The drinks were pretty strong and good. Decent prices. Parking is difficult but there is a garage ($20 to park) on the same block which is helpful.
by Kyra R. on I've only partied here once but I really liked it. Vangaurd is not like the typical Hollywood club, it's huge like a Vegas club. They have sexy circus-like acts going on in the center of the lower level of the club. They have a little dineresque like food joint by the entrance that serves decent grubby food for club like prices, fries are like 5 bucks. They have a huge outside patio and upstairs VIP area. And when I was there the DJ was great spinning a good mix of dancin grooves. Overall, I really liked the Vegas feel of this LA club. I'd def go back.
