Decor is nice. Nice to have a choice for a drink before or after an Alamo Village movie. I would go for the parmesan french fries alone. Possibly best in town. I had the Mac 'n Cheese (a side dish) as my main course. Very rich, and very good. Also - our server was very nice and accomodating to requests. Not a ton of vegetarian choices, but perhaps they would be able to modify a few things (didn't ask this time). Vegetarian Friendly: 3/5

I HATE BEING SUBJECTED TO TRUDY'S. It's the go-to for certain friends for their birthdays. Or, like Guero's, one of those Austin places that someone told your visiting friends they just HAD to try. Really? The food is barely passable, and mostly tasty only because it's greasy. As for the drinks, I really am not wowed by the Mexican martinis, nor am I impressed by their strength merely because the place decides to limit how many each patron can consume. Finally, 4/5 times when I try to order something relatively simple and clean--a Stoli and soda--I end up with a Stoli and Sprite. Basically, if you've managed to get me to go to Trudy's with you, you can be confident in the strength of our friendship (or the gravity of some debt I owe you).

Not too shabby free-form jazz was playing on a Wednesday night at 9pm. The bar was free of chocolate martinis and the true barflies were throwing back bottomless red wines and some pretty decent margaritas. Sat down for a few hours and heard someone talk politics, another couple talk Braves, and down near the end of the bar someone was arguing about the merits of being a 'good wingman' to his bro. Pretty relaxed and casual, just like a good bar should be. The service can be kind of slow, but that's just because when you come here you'd better be on Atlanta time, and when I say Atlanta time what I mean is relaxed and ready for some tapas and a good margarita.
