STK is definitely trendy. The service and the food is about average but does a few standout dishes. I would recommend the fries (which were awesome) and sweet corn pudding. The steak was just about average for NY steakhouses. The servers are a little snoody - and teh coat check is very inconvenient. It is a great spot to meet up for a drink and some apps - but the pricy entrees are not worth the price or crowd fighting. The décor is cool - and even has a mod fire place. The private rooms on the second floor are also very nice.

music is great. the dance floor is small but with the sound system - you can feel it bumping all night long. I came on a sunday night when it wasn't as busy but I thought it was perfect to jam to and really feel the music. $10 cover and no line.

I am officially addicted to Trudy's queso especial. My husband and I make it to Top Shelf Tuesday, nearly every week, and we are never disappointed. Now, I really don't eat the food. My meal of choice is queso and margaritas. In my opinion, their Mexican food is not great, but the vegetable plate is, just don't get a salad, they're gross. The broccoli with queso is yummy, with grilled zucchini, rice and beans. The veggie flaquities are also scrumptious. I have to say we have always had the most wonderful service there, I am always pleased with every waitperson we've had, and we've had a lot. They all go above and beyond, even the host or hostess. One time they were really busy when we sat on the patio and no one talked to us, which stunk, but I figure everyone has their day. We only go to the central location, which is in a converted house with great art. There's also a great patio surrounded by trees and fans in the summer, heaters in the winter.
