I am not the hugest fan of Vietnamese food, and I realized last weekend it's because I never had really delicious food. At other places I frequent in Chinatown, I always got bun, pho, or charboiled beef over broken rice. Same ol' same ol. At le Viet, they had some dishes that was so interesting, we just had to try. I had the spareribs in clay pot - AMAZING. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. It's a "fingers get mess" dish, but totally worth it. For appetizers, we had pineapple calamari shrimp. OH. MY. God. It was so yummy. Normally I hate fruit in my food, but the pineapple is subtle and really compliments the calamari and shrimp. You eat it over little shrimp crackers. It's a delicious salad-esque dish. And of course, a meal is not complete without the iced coffee in condensed milk. Okay, I think it's time for me to go back tonight!

Parish has a ton of potential. The atmoshphere is amazing, a very rustic and classy atmosphere with amazing natural wood tables and clever decor, taking you to an upscale new orleans eatery. The 1st floor market is also very charming and worth stopping by for an after dinner coffee drink. The food left much to be desired in this 1st visit. They just opened so have a lot of kinks to work out. I was in a big party but the following food mistakes occurred. over half the appetizers came out cold, warm, or partially cold and warm. It was a huge turnoff. Also, two people ordered the Ahi tuna and received one small piece that was perfectly cooked - seared and rare, and the other piece well done. A total waist of a good piece of tuna. One of my friends ordered the shrimp burger and it came out with a cold and soggy bun. It then took an other 20 minutes to get a new one after we had all finished eating. The restaurant was kind enough to remove the sub par dishes from the tab, but it still left a sour taste in our mouths. We had higher expectations at this Concentrics restaurant. You would expect them to open up with exceedingly good service and food. There were also a few dishes on the menu that werent available which frustrated some of us. They also do NOT serve beignets unless you are there for brunch service. I want to come back and hit up their brunch and lunch sandwiches.

Total blast here. Cute boys, good music, sexy dramatic space, but small pricey drinks. Whatever. I'm still going back the next Sunday night I'm there.
