I'm not sure why so many people have rated this place so low; really, I have zero complaints about this place. Well, our server seemed like he might have rather been sleeping. Or that he was, indeed, sleepwalking. Not that he was inattentive, just seemingly disinterested. Anyway, the cadillac margaritas were a-ok by us all, the salsas were very good (and I am very hard to please when it comes to salsa - not too garlicky, not over-puréed or over-processed...), and the spinach enchiladas were pretty much heavenly. I'm used to having cheese enchiladas be the only vegetarian option on a Mexi-menu, so this was a very pleasing alternative. I'd definitely come back for those alone.

Not what it once was. A de-balled shadow of its once former self. If you are NOT a hipster or a transplant you'll know Shampoo for being one of the classic "Super-clubs" of the 90's into about 2005. Those were the days BEFORE pretentiousness. It had a main room and sever other rooms on different floors. The sound system was amazing and all you did was dance to NON-RADIO music, INCLUDING the hip hop room too. HOUSE, trance, techno, and rap they didnt play on the radio is what you danced to. Today people like to pose. A few reviewers are unimpressed by its 'decor' - that's because it's supposed to be a CLUB not a douche-bag. There are countless LAME 'lounges' around center city that have replaced the old clubs. They are filled with million dollar decor and millon dollar LAMENESS as well. Because there is such a demand for adult aged posery today, the dance clubs are now left to the underage people 17-20. As such if you go here, expect to hear what this generation likes: top 40 radio music. Some of us can remember when the whole point of going out was hearing NON-RADIO music... ie REAL music. 15 minute house songs, and all the rap power 99 didnt play on their rotation. Anyway those days are over, so if you go here just expect top 40 and teenagers. Until adults demand FUN, rather than "HOTNESS" parties will continue to SUCK in Philadelphia. All people want to do downtown is POSE these days. How many times are you going to pay to go to a lounge before you realize its lame? The venue is good, the music and crowd is bad. True house music is nearly dead, but it would be nice if they had an authentic night for those of us who still remember what fun is...

I went to Cielo based on rateclubs reviewers. I confess, I was a little skeptical. rateclubsers do not lie! This is a fantastic place, great atmosphere, great music. I cannot wait to go back. Mesmerizing.
