I didn't pay for drinks when I was there, so I don't know if it was expensive. There are hot bartenders (I swore one was Tila Tequila) but their skills are mediocre at best. As a "pro" I will tell you: looks don't equal talent behind the bar. Not everyone can be blessed with my good fortune. :) The spot is pretty. But, kinda reminds me of the places we had our First Communion parties at. Also, it's not as large as I thought. Doormen were friendly enough. I am just not a club person. I am too old for loud music, "reserved" signs on tables and false pretenses. I prefer dinner and good wine.

I love, love, love Delux! It's open super late and that atmosphere is almost so hip it hurts. The Chinese chicken salad [I order it without chicken] is a crisp, nice, vegetarian option. Plus, it's served in a gigantic bowl with more than enough to share with a friend or two. Plus, the mixed sweet potato and white potato fries come served in a little grocery cart. How cute is that?!

Was it six months ago? The wait for the doors to open was toe-numbing and frankly... mean. An hour trickled past door time. The long line shifted from foot to foot until Chan Marshall stepped out of a cab and asked the line, "What are you suckers doing out here? It's freezing!" The refugees followed her into the lantern-lit ballroom. (The cloak room didn't see much business that night - had to stay warm!) I don't think the place was heated 'cause I kept my Carhartt on for the whole show! Sapporos were midtown prices, but the bartenders were friendly enough. I made myself at home on the wood floor until Cat power hit the stage. All the booths and seating seemed awful far away from the action. I guess the layout worked for DJs n' dance nights, but I thought it was a little awkward for a band. I loved the giant wooden beams and gates. The minimal lantern and stage light was refreshingly stripped-down. In the end Chan and friends made the chilly wait well worth it. They were in good form and Hiro's sound was great!
