Playhouse is good shit if you get in, don't wait in line, and don't pay. The vibe inside is like a party on coke rush-- the Persian boys with bottle service don't run out of money and people are still go go go go at 3am. Love iiiiiit. It's Hollywood and ultra bougie, so if you're not into that, then don't come here.
by Jerrell Wohlgemuth on Out of all my years of clubbin' and all clubs that I have been to in NYC, unfortunately I have to say that this is one of the worse I've been too...First and foremost the club is not easy to spot in the first place. I spent a good 45 minutes trying to find this place. After finding it, had to wait in line for another 30-40 minutes with some "omg" girls...Then had to pay a $25 cover charge while already being on the guestlist for a friend of mine that was having a birthday...Now for the drinking portion of the night; now I know drinks in most NYC clubs are expensive but you tell me how $14 for a grey goose and pineapple is reasonable...NOT ANYWHERE!!!! $11 for a damn shot!!! WTF!!!!! One drink for me for the whole night which got me more tight...But I would say the worse thing of the night is the impacted dance floor which is about the size of modern kitchen. (which means not that big)...I don't see how anyone can have a good time dancing in this place unless some shorty is just backin' it up on someone else on a bar stand. The balcony was even packed but with no one dancing. I will never go to this spot again....Just a DEFINITE miss, I don't care what DJ is there or whatever else, one of the worse clubbing experiences I've ever had anywhere!!!!
by Matthew S. on So, I read all the reviews (mostly negative) here on rateclub, asked a few friends about the place (again, mostly negative) and still wound up going here the other night...but I have my reasons! The first, and probably only reason being that a friend of mine works here and she got me and my friend in for free, and also gave us some free drinks which are always nice...but that was about the last nice thing I experienced here. First of all, I agree with most of the other people here that say the crowd here is awful. There were way to many drunken lecherous guys here, and it reminded me of a bad frat party. One of the reasons that I even came here is my friend (a beautiful girl) was visiting and wanted to go out, and as I mentioned I got us in for free. So while we were dancing, one drunken fool comes over, while she's obviously dancing with me and trys to go buy her a drink, which she politely declined, but he kept bugging her. So we went to the bar and forgot about him. Then a bit later we went back out to the dance floor and another drunken frat boy comes up behind her to start dancing. She says it's ok for a minute cause he's drunk and trying to dance and have a good time. A minute later he grabs her ass. That was less ok, and seemed to sum up the crowd here. Secondly, we then went up to the second floor to relax some, and what do you know, a drunken fist fight/brawl had erupted! Fists flying, girls screaming (OMG HE'S DEAD!) and general stupidity. (He wasn't dead, he was knocked out!) I'm giving in one extra star for one reason. The two girls who actually worked there, and did some show where they are raised on ropes and do some crazy ass acrobatic stunts. That was actually pretty cool. I can't see myself coming back here. Maybe when I'm totally trashed and I know that I can get in for free again, I MIGHT go back, but I'd have to be pretty drunk.
