Lunch with Cheap Easy Parking in J-Town (Little Tokyo)! I stopped by for lunch. Pressed for time, the mall provides ample parking with one hour free. I believe you can get a second hour for free with validation. Prior to arriving they said they were open for lunch. I got there at noon and they said they had just opened but would accomodate me. I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Pricey. But, you can get in an out quickly. I think this may be a better place to come at night. The atmosphere and decor are great. Looks like a great place/lounge to just hang. Overall..AOK.

Even though Polk Street makes me feel dirty in ways that I try to ignore (oh who am I kidding, I like it), makes me hold my purse a little tighter as I walk with a more badass swagger, and makes me feel like I will never get that virginal glow back, I love it.  I love that I can get down and dirty in my fave bar, then when I feel that I have had enough of the pregnant man in the tattered slipknot shirt and white zombie sweatshirt playing pool, I can go across the street to Vertigo and feel like I'm in a womb. Despite what some will tell you about my food choices, when it comes to drinks, I like to try new things.  Oftentimes, those new things are what my alcohol infused lobes have created, but sometimes I'm lazy and want someone to tell me what they've thought up.  Vertigo does that- with fancy labeled signs above the bar. Polk Punch?  What the heck is that?  Grape vodka with some other stuff?  Well slap my ass and call me saucy, this is just what I needed to make the night further licentious.  The contents of said libation were patiently explained to me by a beautiful bartender. RHG and I took our tasty beverages (he got the Arrogant Bastard Ale and tried to tell me it was appropriate, which I thought was HILARIOUS) over to the corner to watch the 20 somethings get drunk and hit on each other.  This is quite amusing for me as I was not in the least bit tipsy, and also because we shared our corner with an adorable sapphic singleton who bemoaned the fact that one of the bartenders did not hook her up on the bud light. This is another bar that could feel like home, but I will venture again on a weeknight.  I'm too old to watch the kids play in the sandbox, I want the grownup action. Polk Punch, here I come!

This place isn't for everyone. Let me just get that out of the way. If you're coming to the ATL and want to get all decked out and go to the club with that chic new dress and see all the pretty people, stop reading right here and go check out another club. That being said, I'm NOT saying there aren't pretty people at MJQ, because there ARE, but MJQ is all about the music and dance. I really don't come here often, but I have a great time when I do. The first time I went I questioned going into the shack, "Was this some kind of cult? Maybe this was some kind of vampire layer, where I was being lured in only to become supper!!!" I went in to find the club was underground. It's a bit "dungeony", but it has a distinct character. It is very pure in the sense that you can just go there for the soul of the music without worrying about your hair etc. etc. You'll also find some of the best dancers here too. This non pretentious environment and great music makes for a very fun evening. It's probably why this place has been around so long while many of the other clubs have come and gone.
