by Bonita Dunzelman on I'm sitting with my friends in a large, oversized leather seat staring at a dead boar's head mounted on the wall, speckled cow hides covering various things, looking over at another wall mounting of a steer, an oversized wooden wagon wheel is holding our drinks and I'm trying to figure out if I like this place. Is this a honky tonk that you would hear about in a country song? No. Shiner's isn't sure if it wants to be a little bit country or a little bit rock and roll. The plus of this place is the fact that they serve every Shiner beer known to man and they have wicked specials during happy hour plus good prices at other times. This would be a good place to bring an out of town guest that are not from Texas to try authentic Texas beer. The downside is that the decorations are a typical Texas stereotype that is just not true. This is probably the kind of bar foreigners are picturing when they think of Texas and that isn't a good thing. However it is a nice reprieve between the cosmopolitan bars on the same block such as the dreadful Prague. Go here instead!
by Tasha Lale on I flip for FLIP! Okay...that was cheesy. Not as cheesy as my flip burger was, though. *Athankyou* This place awesome. Very trendy dinning area. Clean bathrooms. Friendly, attentive service. Decent prices. And swallow-your-tongue-good burgers. May I also suggest the Krispy Kreme milkshake? I can see why it was voted Best Burger in the A by Atlanta Magazine. Definitely worth a trip! Minus one star for how effing freezing it was in there, Mr. Bigglesworth. I was shivering almost the entire time, and heard other patrons mentioning the draftiness as well. It's January, people! Turn that heat up!
by L D. on I randomly walked in here this weekend because my feet were screaming in pain after a long day of walking. It took me a few minutes, but I eventually remembered hanging out here TEN years ago when I was an intern. That such a dirty dive can stay around for so many years is a testament to its worth. No, I won't search it out or even think to come here as a destination. But it's somehow comforting to know I can stumble upon this place in another ten years and throw back a few cheap beers while dropping peanut shells on the floor.
