by jay h. on Foreverland!!! Hay.....Michael Jackson cover band! This place is gorgeous and totally unassuming from the outside. Like many places in SF you don't know how kick ass it is until you experience it for yourself. Dark wood, dark carpet and a quirky 70's style women's bathroom, makes the entry of this venue an easy air of class and groovy vibes. The dance floor is big and the stage is just the right height where you can see the band on stage even if you are standing in the middle of a crowd of tall people. I dig it.
by Alex S. on Racist. We knew this bar had a dressier attire requirement, so we wore our nice shoes. Once we arrived, we waited in a short line to get in. However, when at the front of the line, we were told that we were not dressed well enough to be allowed in. This was odd since we had watched numerous people enter in less dressy garb, and one even entered in sneakers and a baseball cap. While meatpacking establishments may be allowed to freely discriminate against whomever they please, there was nothing wrong with our clothes. Unfortunately, it was probably my friend's skin color. I'd say you should avoid this place at all costs. With over 10,000 places in NYC authorized to serve alcohol, this sort of behavior should not be rewarded.
by Neal Goldhaber on Ok~ this used to be my "go-to" place to find the lads~ however, it seems to have turned into a hip-hop/gangsta rap dj place on the weekends..so the lads don't seem to flock here the way they used to....good place for daytime drinking however..the brothers that run this place run from surly to sexy to indifferent, decide for yourself who is who. However, I will always remember the Abbey as the place I met one of my true loves..(.xo GG!)
