by barsha d. on I've heard lots of good things about this place, but I don't think I'll be coming back. I went with my gf and we started off by sitting at the bar to have some drinks. The bartender seemed nice at first, but then started to act a little odd. He filled my gf's wine really stingy-ly and then started to pour other people wine really freely. Her wine clearly was under the marked line on the glass. When I ordered my cocktail, he mixed it and left it at the bar and said, "here," making me have to get up and reach for it at the other side of the table. WTH? So we decided to get seated right away and when we were, I told our waitress about the lousy service we had just received. She didn't seem to want to do anything about it, either. All she said was, "well, next time, I'll tell him to put more wine." The food was just alright. The broccoli dish we ordered was really over cooked and tasted like mush. I didn't like the decor nor the ambiance of this place. It tried to hard to be hip and the dining room seemed huge and kind of reminded me of Friday's a little. Not in the decor, but just that it was this huge space and there were a bunch of families around us. When the bill came, that first glass of wine was NOT comped, and I think the total for the two of us was probably ~$90. Not worth it for the mediocre food and the extremely terrible service. Avoid this place.
by Christa N. on One word....VENTILATION. it is MUCH needed here, however, if you enjoy being in sauna-like environments, this place has your name smothered and dripping ALL over it. Good Lord is this place freakin' H-O-T (temperature wise, of course). $10 cover, $12 drinks...still beats being ripped off at Heat in Anaheim. This place is ACTUALLY closer to Hollywood than Heat (even though it's not technically known as a "club") Sorry, a little bitter resentment peeking through. Need to breathe a little? or cool off? The patio area isn't amazingly huge, but it certainly serves it's purpose. The pool table and game area is a tad bit small but it's also a lot cooler than the dance floor. The dance floor itself? It's certainly pretty big, but it's also pretty hot. Take comfort in knowing that the bouncers in this place take their job very seriously. Why need a body guard when every where you turn, you'll see a bar mandated man in a black suit turning the corner? I admit though, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I did however, come with a huge group of people so that only added to my experience. It's certainly true, it's only fun if you're here with friends...Don't be that guy walking up to every other group of girls, looking desperate and trying to hit on them with the infamous phrase," how're you doing ladies?!". It's not manly, it's much rather creepy. And don't tell me to "fuck-you" when i call you on your desperateness, trust me, i'd rather not...way to pick up on a girl ;)
by Susann Beardsley on Finally made it to The Local and glad I did. After reading so many favorable reviews, I was curious to see what this place was all about. It's definitely a cool venue to meet up with friends, imbibe, listen to great music, and socialize! We were there on a Friday night and it was packed. It's definitely a feel good atmosphere where before you know it, you may have consumed more alcohol than you intended. The service was great - friendly and efficient and our bar tab was totally reasonable. The Local will now be one of my "let's meet up for a beer" recommendations.
