Tired of my cooking this past Christmas, we decided to go out to dinner. Gloria's restaurant is always full of happy patrons so we decided to give them a try. The restaurant is clean and comtemprary with a bit of modern vibe. The food was very typical of a super-sized chain restaurant. Good service, nice looking, mediocre food. Nothing good, nothing bad, just OK. With the chips and salsa, they give you a black bean dip, which my kids really liked. We ordered the bean and cheese quesadillas and fries for the kids. The fries were awful and tasted old. It was soggy and my kids didn't eat any of it. We ordered the ceviche appetizer, Lechon asado, Camarones al mojo. The ceviche and Camarones were OK and lechon was tough, dry, and was too charred for my taste. Everything here is mild to suite the massive crowd. Perhaps with some more drinks and salsa dancing, I can give it more stars.

So far, my best experience of the recent upscale burger restaurants to open in the Atlanta area. Best service with friendly and knowledgeable servers. Most creative menu. Best execution. Try the Chorizo burger for a mouth full of flavor with every bite and only if you have no upcoming cholesterol tests coming up with your family doctor. The burger is outstanding. The Crab burger was a nice change of pace too. Nice big chunks of crab coated with just enough coconut curry sauce. Very impressed. The namesake flip burger was a very good burger too. Try one of the shakes. The liquid N2 makes for great presentation with lots of ooohs and ahhs, but the flavor of the shakes is what you will remember. Pumpkin Pie and Nutella + burnt marshmallow were a hit at our table. The Onion rings and the fries were well liked too. I gave five stars for the overall experience and my feeling afterwards that I would recommend Flip to anyone without hesitation. The experience was fun, delicious, and quick. Service hit the mark. Everyone at the table enjoyed it too and said they would go out of their way to return.

NOTE: The only really enjoyable nights are the Friday night poetry slams. That being said, I enjoyed myself when I went to the Nuyorican and it was my first time. The poetry was intelligent and the host was entertaining...a little pompous at times, but still entertaining. There were definitely more than a few people there who could be defined as posers , and the bartender gave my friend an overpriced, watery drink but I overlooked it since the show was good. I would say to definitely get there early and leave right after the slam because then they do an open mike that was a little boring.
