Please... Remember when Austin used to be laid back? This place is tryng SO hard to be hip. A+ for decor. A for cuisine and drinks. D- for service, especially the glorified water boy who snapped his fingers at me and my pregnant friend for our empty water bottle. There's a lot of good food in Austin. Careful how you treat your patrons.

A venue is only as good as it's perfomers and the Blue Note is a prime example. First off... Could ya pack a few more effin people in please? I mean, seriously, I could fit that small brunette on my left knee and maybe that old guy with the cane... put him on my right. Geezus! Tiny, cramped, less than average drinks priced at lounge quotas... Good thing they cull some great musicians! I was surprised by a date to see my favorite Jazz muscian, the fab Chris Botti a couple weeks ago and while we were in the midst of the holiday crowd he put on an excellent show. I wish there was a bigger venue in the area, but I'll do what I have to and for that Blue Note gets my nod.

My name is Eric and I am a dance-a-holic. Mighty is my favorite place to go dancing in the city. I just *always* have a good time here. The music ranges from mind-blowingly good to better than average. I've never been here when the music was just plain bad, which is all too common for dance/electronic/breakbeat/dnb music in the city. The space is relatively large, which helps keep it relatively cool. This is important if you plan on dancing for three or four hours straight. If the event is large enough they open a roped off area on the sidewalk out front (with another DJ). Here's a hot tip for the best monthly in SF: ROLLER DISCO! The second to last Thursday of the month is a roller disco at Mighty. It will blow your mind. You can rent skates here, but if you show up any later than 10:30pm you'll be in line for a few hours waiting for skates. So show up early or bring your own skates! Don't worry, there are maybe two people at the roller disco that actually know how to skate well, everyone else is there for a finding-your-inner-child good time. Roll bounce!
