by Clifford Lemere on My friend George got us into Club V without a cover charge and had a table reserved for us too, so I definitely got the executive/VIP type treatment here this past Saturday night. I used to wonder why these guys charged hefty cover charges here and last night I found out why. This high energy club is actually patron-service oriented. From the moment you walk in, you are taken care of my friendly bartenders and waitresses and there are a few sparsely placed security guards always scanning the scene for horseplay or bad behavior. The central bar looks very elegant and the patrons are all pretty chic. The music is very high-energy dance, electro-hip-hop, and house. I never heard a beat I couldn't dance to here. And tacky top-40 was wisely left off the playlist! Apparently, as Rebecca M. notes, "The music ranges from Thursday Night Mash Up, Friday Night Flash Back, and Global House Saturday." Coupled with the good music, the colorful laser lights and fog in the club definitely add to the "Wow..Cool! Nice!" factor while you're buzzing! The night I was here, the fellas did outnumber the chicks, but not to a totally limp dicking extent. I would say that guys outnumbered girls about 3:2 the night I was there, which was not horrible, but it was noticeable. Cocktails are pretty pricey here, so having a few drinks before arriving may be wise, because my well vodka cocktail ran me about $8, so I can imagine top shelf drinks to run above $10. Overall, I felt that Club V maintains a feeling of grown, sexy, exclusive, and VIP. It was kept so clean and spotless - and staffed so well. It truly is a gem in the high energy nightlife scene of Detroit - while inside you would think you're in LA, Miami or Vegas. It is definitely a see and be seen crowd, but they still dance and party hard and most patrons I crossed paths with were friendly. The smaller dance floor, cover charge, and one central bar makes for a more intimate and exclusive feel - and the music is unparalleled in the Detroit club scene. For special nights out, Club V has now trumped Club Amnesia in my eyes as far as Casino clubs go. I have yet to try Eclipz at Greektown, but I don't expect much from it.
by Sara M. on I wouldn't eat there. Not even if it were on a date where I could order whatever I wanted and not have to worry about putting out. The food sucks. But the club on a Friday is good. I've been there several times as a friend of mine is a promoter and have always had a good time. The drinks are the normal expensive but there are 3 floors (2 hip-hop; 1 latin music). It's a very popular club so I would suggest you get there early b/c the line is not fun and very long.
