I was really excited about going here because I heard great things about it and was sadly disappointed. Although the food was great, the service was horrible, it took almost two hours to be seated, and there were people who arrived after us without reservations and were seated before us. I think the service and the attitude of the waitress completely ruined our experience, and maybe they had an off day but it sucked! The end!

SOBs is still the spot for live music. I'll have to premise this review by admitting that one of my fam is the head of security here and has been for more than 15 years, but regardless SOBs over the years has been the shit for live performances. The acoustics are tight and you can't find a more eclectic crowd. Sat. night had no special performances but they were setting up for a live show before I stepped out (around 3 AM). The drink prices have gone up slightly, I think about 11$ but this is on par with everywhere else in the city and I think is a non issue. They don't have RedBull, they have Monster (I think) it's a cheaper energy drink and mixed with your Vodka does have a nasty taste. Go with the Johnnie Walker. People dance at SOBs, especially when the samba is on. So, you have to accept the funk from the dance floor. It does get funky in here and over the last 2 dozen or so times I've been here, this has been the common theme. So what - get over yourself. This isn't the spot to come wearing your Narcisso Rodriguez perfume dolled up to the nines, it's a spot to witness some amazing samba dancers and just about any given genre of music through out the week. Are you a hermaphrodite New-Guinean? I'm sure they have a night for you specifically. I can't think of one other spot in the city that caters to such a wide span of interests. Check your coat - you will be absolutely pleasantly surprised by the smell downstairs. Must be the employees burning, cause damn did I catch a wonderful contact. SOBs, your the shit and don't ever change.
