Strata aka Gramercy Room is ghetto. Which would be fine, if the people were ghetto fabulous but they're not. I think some of the tackiest people I've ever seen. No one, I repeat, NO ONE should wear RED JEANS. No. Sorry. It's not fashionable, you're not being a trendsetter. No. You look like a tacky, broke, ugly, rejects. With that being said, I've been here a few times and have had a meh time. I got pretty drunk once and this Asian guy charged at me like those little Asian ladies on the train that try to tackle you to get to the only empty seat. I think he was trying to walk through me to get to the bar... in any case, he knocked the crap outta me, both of my feet went straight into the air, as did my drink, then I fell on my behind (thank goodness for the extra cushion) followed by my drink, all over my hair. Someone(s?) grabbed both arms and picked me up, while my friends patted me dry. I'll never go again. Oh, and they serve their drinks in plastic cups. Ghetto.

My friends and I came to the place on a Thursday night. The place was dead. We got in easily, no charge, nice environment, very space-y, the music was not bad, full bar, and nice place to hang, be mellow and chill. We came back on a Friday night after leaving from Duvet (another club) and after much convincing from our other friends that Friday night would be different for Stay. NO! It was dead as well. I don't know about you, if a place is not happening on a Thursday night and it is not happening on a Friday night, then it is NOT HAPPENING! We feel cheated. Anyway, since we hopped to this place from Duvet, we got a group of people coming with us. The first group including me got in fine (even though the bouncer, a woman, was having a bit of an attitude). We got in, waited for a long time for our friends (the second group that should be meeting us up) wondering why they didn't get in yet. They called and said they got stuck outside by the bouncer. Now, we are pissed. The place was dead on a Friday night and for no apparent reason, the bouncer just decided to make a group of customers waited outside for a lounge/club that was not worth the time! We left and never come back to the place again.

i give a high recommendation for this place. that might be because i was a new yorker living in central square. but still - it is great. very minimalist and really had a great atmosphere / live dj. all the seats and tables etc are on wheels, and when it is time to start dancing, the furniture gets slided away to open up the dance floor. If you are planning to go on a friday or saturday, i definitely recommend getting there pre-9:30pm. otherwise you'll find yourself stuck on line. thursdays there are great too. their food is quite good too (although don't expect to be full).
