by Nelson Frohberg on Good, but not great. The bf & I ate here last Thursday night a little on the later end with no reservation. Typically we're bar folks, so we got a banquette in the bar area and were able to order from the full menu. For starters, we got the black pepper shrimp with sundried pineapple, the chicken samosas and the chicken & coconut soup. I LOVED the shrimp, he loved the samosas but neither of us cared for the soup. For entrees, I had the striped bass with wok fried napa cabbage waterchestnut and cucumber and he had the grilled strip steak. Mine was delightful. His was fair. The meat had way too much gristle for a $36 piece of meet. For desert, we had green tea ice cream which came out in a kitchy chinese take-out box. Cute to look at, but not too practical to eat out of in my opinion. They have a great specialty drink menu that will probably change seasonally. Their raspberry & lychee bellini is to die for. The service was good, but as other folks have mentioned they tag-team, so there always seemed to be someone asking us if we needed anything, doubling up on trying to take our order, etc. It was confusing at first and then was a bit annoying. I appreciate them vying for superior customer service, but it was a bit much. I'll agree with Melissa on the server's attire. One of our two waitresses had a fully backless top/tunic on in that hideous brown that was unattractive and odd. Will I go back? Probably b/c it's very close to home, but it might be a while. $175 (with tip) for two is pricey for such a so-so meal.

This place is filled with preppy frat boys (douchebags) and skanky overdressed girls (the kind that you'll bump into in Cancun, wasted off their minds, yelling "has anyone seen my platform flip flop?!"). It has 2 floors; one serves as a bar and the other functions as the dance floor. They mostly play mainstream pop and hip hop, reason for which my friends and I have fallen into the trap repeatedly, thinking it would be "funny" to go there (we usually stand out like a sore thumb). Believe me, it really is NOT fun. Their music is really getting old: maybe it was funny to dance to "Toxic" in 2004...not anymore! Did I forget to mention the service is terrible? The bartenders are rude and the doorman will not let you come back in, even if you told him you had emphysema and that you left your oxygen tank in there. Don't get me wrong, I do love their Scorpion bowls, but not enough for me to sit there 5 sec past my last sip.
